The JHS AT Mini is an overdrive pedal from JHS Pedals, developed with guitarist Andy Timmons to deliver his signature dynamic drive tones1. It is the original V1 AT circuit in a compact mini-enclosure, with the wattage toggle removed and the voicing set to 100 watts2. It launched in August 2026 at a list price of $1292.
Where the larger AT+ gives you a boost channel and three wattage voicings, the AT Mini is a single-footswitch drive with four knobs, aimed at players who want the AT sound without giving up much board space. JHS describes the fixed 100-watt voicing as "the open, loud, less-compressed voicing with the most volume and the most amp-like crunch"2.
What it does: the AT+ at its 100-watt voicing
The AT Mini is the same exact circuit as the V1 AT, according to JHS, but with the headroom choice taken out of your hands. On the AT+ and the original AT, a three-way toggle simulates the headroom characteristics of a 25-watt, 50-watt or 100-watt valve amp5. Josh Scott of JHS explained the thinking behind that toggle on the original: "We added the headroom toggle. The idea there was the way that the waveform is clipping. It feels like a 100 watt or a 25" watt amp53.
The Mini is locked to the top setting. On the AT+, that position is described as delivering "tons of volume and open crunch while being less focused"6. The lower settings trade that openness for compression: the 50-watt setting offers a balance of compression and openness, and the 25-watt setting has the most compression and saturation with the least volume6. If you know you like the big, open sound, the Mini saves you the switch and the enclosure space.
What the Mini does not have is the AT+'s boost side. On the larger pedal, that is a slightly dirty, overdriven pre-boost that hits the front end of the drive channel for more saturation and definition, and it can also be used alone to drive an amp or other drive pedals4. Guitar World's Daryl Robertson noted that on the AT+ the boost sits in front of the main drive circuit, adding gain and sustain rather than a volume spike5. Andy Timmons has said the boost in front of the gain also takes a little low end down, which makes the neck pickup more usable7. None of that comes with the Mini; it is the drive channel alone.
The controls: Volume, Drive, EQ and Air
Four knobs, and gearnews found they "perform their essential amp-tone/drive functions"8:
| Control | What it does |
|---|---|
| Volume | Controls the output volume2 |
| Drive | Sets the amount of drive8 |
| EQ | Acts like a high-pass filter, adjusting the harshness in the high frequencies to suit individual taste8 |
| Air | Functions like a presence knob, adding brightness when needed8 |
The EQ and Air pairing is carried over from the AT line. On That Pedal Show's demo of the AT+, Dan and Mick described the two as effectively a treble control and a presence control alongside volume and drive9. Andy Timmons walked through the same idea in Sweetwater's AT Drive V2 video, pointing to the EQ and Air knobs as the controls for tailoring the top end10.
Power and connections
The AT Mini requires 9V DC to 18V DC center negative power and consumes 10mA2. That draw is low enough that it is easy on most isolated supplies. The original V1 AT could also be safely run on 18 or 9 volts, so the wider voltage range is inherited from the older circuit4. There is no battery option; it is a powered-pedal design with a single 1/4" input on the right and a single 1/4" output on the left2.
The AT Mini runs at up to 18V DC, but always center negative. Check your power supply's polarity before plugging in.
History: from the V1 AT to the AT Mini
The AT line began with the Angry Charlie. Andy Timmons describes the original AT as the pedal "which began as the angry charlie," a JHS pedal he had been involved with10. The AT itself was born and released in 20164, and Delicious Audio's Christopher Scapelliti reported the same release year when the pedal went into production6.
The AT+ followed as the second model, adding the independently switchable boost circuit10. On That Pedal Show, Dan and Mick called it "the third model andy timmons 280 plus" in the line's progression9. The AT+ remains in the JHS Pedals catalog, and its drive channel is identical to the original AT with no changes made to the circuit or controls4.
The AT Mini, announced in August 2026, is the compact third act. Delicious Audio's Paolo De Gregorio described it as "a (more than) compact, but not quite mini, version of the company's renowned overdrive AT+ pedal," developed with Andy Timmons1. Gearnews reported it available to order from Thomann and Sweetwater, with retailer pricing listed at $125.00 / £115.00 / 135.00€8. JHS put it in a new enclosure that the maker says "gives you back valuable board real estate"2.
JHS announced the pedal in a demo video with Josh Scott and Andy Timmons, titled around its $129 price, walking through the V1 circuit and the fixed 100-watt voicing32.

Questions
Is the JHS AT Mini true bypass?
Yes. JHS Pedals lists the AT Mini with true bypass switching, so with the pedal off your guitar signal passes through without the circuit coloring it. It runs on 9V to 18V DC center negative power and draws only 10mA.
What is the difference between the JHS AT Mini and the AT+?
The AT Mini uses the same circuit as the original V1 AT, while the AT+ adds an independently switchable boost circuit and a three-way wattage toggle for 25, 50 or 100-watt voicings. The Mini drops both features and lives in a much smaller enclosure at a lower price.
Does the JHS AT Mini have the wattage toggle?
No. JHS removed the wattage toggle and set the voicing permanently to 100 watts, which the maker describes as the open, loud, less-compressed setting with the most volume and the most amp-like crunch.
Where is the JHS AT Mini made?
JHS Pedals assembles the AT Mini in Kansas City. The pedal launched in August 2026 at a list price of $129 and is available to order from retailers such as Thomann and Sweetwater.
