The JHS Legends of Fuzz Crimson is a fuzz pedal in JHS Pedals' Legends of Fuzz series, a line that revisits notable fuzz designs from the past. The Crimson's circuit is based on an ultra-rare 1992 Sovtek Red Army Overdrive, one of the very first Russian-made Big Muffs, according to guitar.com's review of the series1. Players after that classic Russian Muff character in a modern pedal will find it here, alongside other Legends of Fuzz designs such as the JHS Legends of Fuzz Bender and JHS Legends of Fuzz Smiley.
Controls
The Crimson keeps things simple, with a small set of controls that cover the essentials of the fuzz sound1:
| Control | What it does |
|---|---|
| Volume | Sets the pedal's output level |
| Tone | Shapes the treble content of the fuzz |
| Distort | Sets the amount of fuzz distortion |
| Mode switch | Switches in a mid boost |
All controls are as listed in guitar.com's review of the Legends of Fuzz series1.
What reviewers said
guitar.com's reviewer, Richard Purvis, gave the Crimson a positive verdict in his review of the Legends of Fuzz series, calling it "A tasty take on this season's must-have fuzz accessory, the Russian Muff"1. The pedal also featured on That Pedal Show, where Dan and Mick looked at the JHS Legends of Fuzz range alongside their current favorite fuzzes2.
