The Line 6 Helix Stadium XL is the larger of the two floor units in Line 6's Helix Stadium family, a digital amp modeler and multi-effects processor that succeeds the original Helix Floor as the company's flagship. It arrived about ten years after the original Helix, shipping from Fall 2025123, and it brings a new amp modeling technology called Agoura, an 8-inch touchscreen, and a deep set of live and studio features, including the Showcase automation and playback engine for setlists and backing tracks3.

Where the original Helix used HX modeling, the Stadium family replaces it with Agoura, which Line 6 describes as a component-level capturing methodology for more lifelike sound and dynamic touch response43. The XL carries 134 amp models (Guitar World's guide says 134+), 46 speaker cabinets and 246 effects pedals, with up to 512 user presets356.

Agoura amp modeling, Hype and Focus View

Agoura is the modeling methodology behind the Stadium family's amps. Guitar.com's reviewer, Richard Purvis, describes it as component-level capturing of real amplifiers, claiming more lifelike sound and feel than earlier approaches3. Line 6 positions it as delivering "extraordinary sound and responsiveness to playing dynamics"11. The family launched with 22 new Agoura amp models, 16 guitar and 6 bass4, and three more were announced for a later firmware upgrade1.

Two new controls sit on top of the amp models:

  • Hype moves an Agoura amp model away from strict accuracy toward an idealized version of the real thing. Guitar.com calls it a control that lets you push an amp "beyond strict realism into something a bit more 'big' and compressed"3; Guitar World's reviewer describes it as taking the model slightly away from an accurate recreation7.
  • Focus View adjusts multiple controls at once by moving a cursor around a screen with different tone types in each corner3.

On the feel of the models, the reviews line up. Guitar.com's verdict on the amps was blunt31:

"The Agoura models sound consistently excellent, to the extent that it's hard to see what more you could possibly ask of them, and that goes for the playing feel too."
Richard Purvis, Guitar.com3

In Sweetwater's demo video, Mitch Gallagher and Don Carr found the models authentic in the way that matters to players: the amps respond correctly when the guitar's volume knob is turned down12. The factory presets were described as covering everything from chiming black-panel cleans to roaring Marshall crunch, ethereal ambiences and gated modern metal, with no obvious weak points, though Guitar.com noted most of them ship with too much reverb3.

The controls: 8-inch touchscreen and 12 footswitches

The XL's front panel is built around a high-resolution 8-inch touchscreen, a step up from the original Helix's smaller display, and now with touch control43. Below it sit 12 footswitches in two rows of six, each with its own OLED scribble strip for labeling, plus a built-in expression pedal with a toe switch, an XL-only feature4510. The chassis is a dual-piece extruded aluminum top with a folded steel baseplate4, and MusicRadar's reviewer found the black brushed finish looked ready to survive on-stage mishaps5.

The footswitches are capacitance-sensing, carried over from the original Helix, and can be configured for Preset, Snapshot or Stomp modes7. Sweetwater's demo also shows a combo view that puts four presets and four snapshots on the switches at once12. A dedicated amplifier button jumps straight to the amp block, and delay times can be set in milliseconds or by tap tempo with note divisions such as a quarter or a dotted eighth10. The Stadium XL Floor also carries eight mini encoders, two more than the original Helix7.

Power and connections

The Stadium XL has an internal power supply and runs from a standard IEC mains cable, like the original Helix, so there is no wall wart to lose47. MusicRadar's spec sheet lists it as IEC, 9V DC, 3A5.

The connection list is long. On the analog side there are dual instrument inputs, a dedicated XLR mic preamp with 128 dB dynamic range, four stereo effects loops, and balanced XLR/TRS outputs46. Digital and control connections include S/PDIF in and out, MIDI in and out, Bluetooth, WiFi, a micro SD slot, USB-C and USB-A, and Nexus link45. There are two TRS control jacks for external footswitches and pedals, support for up to four external expression pedals, and up to four external amp control outs410.

As an audio interface, the XL offers USB-C for 8-in/8-out 24-bit/96kHz recording6, and Line 6 describes the Stadium units as 8-channel audio interfaces with Matrix cue mixers and the Showcase automation and playback engine62. Showcase enables things like imported backing tracks, stomp-free looping and automated setlists; Guitar.com's example is routing a click track to a drummer through the headphone socket while everything else goes to the main stereo outputs3.

Helix Stadium XL versus the Stadium Floor and original Helix

The Stadium family launched as a pair: the flagship XL Floor and a streamlined version, the Helix Stadium Floor13. The XL is the bigger of the two, roughly half an inch taller, half an inch deeper and 3 1/2 inches wider, and about 4 lb heavier12. The main differences:

Against the original Helix, the Stadium XL is slightly less monolithic in dimensions than the old Helix Floor3, and GuitarPlayer's guide calls it the second iteration of Line 6's flagship, with a huge update in the new amp modeling15. The Stadium Floor did not begin shipping until February 2026, eight months after the family's unveiling16.

What reviewers said

Guitar.com reviewed the Stadium XL in April 2026, praising the Agoura modeling and the touchscreen while flagging the price and complexity3. Its likes and dislikes:

  • "Ridiculously powerful in terms of functionality"3
  • "Amp models sound and feel excellent"3
  • "It's a serious investment"3

Guitar World's review listed the vibrant eight-inch touchscreen, the Agoura modeling, fantastic reverbs, delays and modulations, the integrated expression pedal, an accessible learning curve and consistent firmware updates among the reasons to buy7. MusicRadar's reviewer, who gigs with an HX Stomp, wrote that having played at an actual stadium, they "would feel fairly confident with using the Stadium XL there"5. MusicRadar's October 2026 buying guide included it among its picks for live use6.

In Sweetwater's demo, the presenters called the functionality "just astounding" and noted it would fit any workflow10. On Andertons' review video, Lee Anderton and Line 6's Paul Hindmarsh argued that modern units all sound pretty authentic now, and that the next battleground is usability rather than sound1.

Sweetwater's demo of the Stadium family covers the XL's four effects loops, the 12 OLED scribble strips, the amplifier shortcut button and the tap tempo delay settings10.
