Mojo Hand FX has revived the Crosstown Hybrid Fuzz, a two-transistor fuzz pedal built on a hybrid Fuzz Face circuit that uses one Germanium and one Silicon transistor. Where a classic Fuzz Face gives you two knobs, the Crosstown gives you four: Tone, Gain, Volume and Body. It is available in two colorways, the Classic Edition and the Rasta Edition, and lists at $1791.

The controls

The Crosstown's four knobs are what set it apart from the two-knob Fuzz Face layout it grows out of. Guitar Pedal X's Stefan Karlsson called it "obviously a Hybrid and Expanded Fuzz Face - with 4 controls in place of the classic 2"1.

ControlWhat it does
GainSets the amount of fuzz1
VolumeSets the output level1
ToneShapes the treble character of the fuzz1
BodyBalances the low-end of the Fuzz Face circuit1

The Body control is the one Fuzz Face players will notice most. As Karlsson put it, "It's cool to have a Body control here - as some don't like the amount of low-end you get with some Fuzz Face circuits"1. Instead of accepting whatever bass response the circuit was born with, you can dial the low-end up or down to suit your guitar and amp.

Circuit and transistors

The Crosstown is a hybrid design: one Germanium transistor and one Silicon transistor in a Fuzz Face topology. Earlier versions of the pedal used a Ge AC187 and a Si BC1091.

The AC187 Germanium transistor became unavailable, and Mojo Hand FX reportedly spent two years finding a suitable Germanium replacement before the pedal could be revived1.

That search is why the Crosstown returned when it did. The revival was announced on 23 September 2026, with both editions available through the Mojo Hand FX webstore1.

Classic and Rasta editions

The revived Crosstown comes in two editions that differ in looks, not circuit1:

  • Classic Edition: mostly orange1
  • Rasta Edition: mostly green1

Karlsson's take on the choice was simple: "you just need to decide whether you prefer the mostly Orange Classic Edition, or mostly Green Rasta Edition"1. Both were listed as currently available at the time of the announcement1.

Price and where it sits

Karlsson called the Crosstown "very fairly priced at $179"1. For players comparing hybrid and Germanium fuzzes, it is one of the more control-rich options in the fuzz pedal field, and it sits alongside the original Crosstown and Crosstown Rasta in the maker's range.

Questions

What transistors does the Crosstown Hybrid Fuzz use?

The Crosstown is a hybrid Fuzz Face circuit using one Germanium and one Silicon transistor. Earlier versions used a Ge AC187 and a Si BC109. When AC187 transistors became unavailable, Mojo Hand FX reportedly spent two years finding a suitable Germanium replacement, which made the revived version possible.

What does the Body knob do?

The Body control balances the low-end of the Fuzz Face circuit. Guitar Pedal X's Stefan Karlsson noted that some players do not like the amount of low-end in some Fuzz Face circuits, so having a Body control lets you dial that bass response to taste rather than living with a fixed amount.

How many controls does the Crosstown have compared with a Fuzz Face?

A classic Fuzz Face has two controls, typically Volume and Fuzz. The Crosstown doubles that to four: Tone, Gain, Volume and Body. Guitar Pedal X described it as a hybrid and expanded Fuzz Face, with four controls in place of the classic two.

How much does the Mojo Hand FX Crosstown cost?

The Crosstown Hybrid Fuzz lists at $179. Guitar Pedal X's Stefan Karlsson called that a very fair price when the revived pedal was announced in September 2026.

What is the difference between the Classic and Rasta editions?

The two editions differ in appearance rather than circuit. The Classic Edition is mostly orange, while the Rasta Edition is mostly green. Both were available through the Mojo Hand FX webstore when the pedal was revived, and the choice between them is purely a matter of which colorway you prefer.
