The MOOER D7 Delay is a mini multi-delay effects pedal from Chinese pedal brand Mooer, part of the company's New Micro Series. Announced at NAMM in January 2020 alongside the A7 Ambiance reverb, it packs six customizable digital delay effects and a built-in looper into an enclosure measuring just 93.5mm deep by 42mm wide by 52mm high, weighing 155g12.
The pedal uses seven signature LED lights as a guide: six of them mark the delay effects, and the seventh indicates the built-in looper, which is usable with any delay setting. All of the effects are customizable and storable, so your tweaks survive as presets1. Delicious Audio described it as managing "to pack seven modes (six delays and a 150-second looper) and preset functionality into a mini-enclosure with five knobs and two pressure buttons"3.
The six delay types and the looper
Mooer describes the D7 as housing "6 customizable digital delay effects with the seventh LED" marking the looper1. MusicRadar named the six delay types at launch: tape, liquid, rainbow, galaxy, modverse and low bit2. The range runs from familiar emulations, such as tape echo, to more experimental sounds like low bit, which gives the D7 creative options beyond a standard digital delay.
The looper records up to 150 seconds3, and because it works with any of the delay settings, Gearnews noted at launch that "this makes it a neat little pedal for adding some layering to your live sound"4. For a player with limited board space, that means one mini box covers both echo duties and basic looping, a job that would otherwise take two pedals.
The control layout is five knobs and two pressure buttons3. Delicious Audio later noted that the 5-knob layout and 7-preset system include two mode-dependent "Tweak" knobs, whose functions change depending on which delay you have selected5.
Tap tempo and presets
Tap tempo functionality on the D7 lets you set the delay timing easily by foot rather than dialing in the time knob by hand1. All six delay effects are customizable and storable, so each mode can hold your own settings1.
Power and connections
The D7 runs on a 9V DC transformer with internal negative external polarity, drawing 200mA1. There is no battery option at that draw, so it needs a spot on a power supply.
The D7's 200mA current draw is on the high side for a mini pedal, so check that your isolated power supply has a 9V output with enough headroom before building it into a board.
Input and output are both single 1/4" mono jacks, with input impedance of 2.2M Ohms and output impedance of 100 Ohms1, so the pedal is mono in and mono out, unlike its X2 sibling.
Where it came from and what reviewers said
Mooer announced the D7 Delay and the A7 Ambiance reverb at NAMM 2020 as additions to its Micro Series, with both pedals carrying an MSRP of $99 USD2. MusicRadar described the brand as a "Chinese pedal brand" adding two new stompboxes2, and the D7 arrived as the redesigned multi-delay effects pedal of The New Micro Series13.
Delicious Audio reviewed the pedal and added it to the site's list of Best Mini Delay Pedals, calling it "a classic take on the multi-mode digital delay with extra creative modes (7 in total)"63.
"We added the Mooer D7 to our list of Best Mini Delay Pedals."
The D7 X2 version with 14 delays and stereo
In August 2021, Mooer announced an expanded X2 Series version, the Mooer D7 X2, described by the maker as a Dual Footswitch Stereo Delay Pedal7. It features more than double the effects of the original D7, with 14 built-in delay effects, while also adding stereo inputs and outputs7. Delicious Audio noted the X2 "takes the format of their popular D7 mini-multi-delay and expands it inside a compact case, gifting it with twice as many" modes5.
The X2's delay lineup ranges from classic analog and tape delays to modern and experimental types including "Low-Bit", "Galaxy", and "PingPong"7. MusicRadar reported that the lineup includes digital emulations of old-school tape echo and analog delays, modulation, a step-phaser, and a fuzz effect on the repeats8. Guitar.com noted that some effects make heavy use of the stereo functionality, especially the ping-pong delay9.
| D7 Delay | D7 X2 | |
|---|---|---|
| Delay effects | 61 | 147 |
| Looper | 150 seconds3 | not part of the X2 feature set as listed |
| I/O | Mono in, mono out1 | Stereo inputs and outputs7 |
| Footswitches | 2 pressure buttons3 | 2, the extra one for tap tempo9 |
| Current draw | 200mA1 | 300mA7 |
| Power | 9V DC, internal negative external1 | 9V, center negative7 |
The X2 keeps the familiar control scheme: timing is adjusted with the TIME knob or the TAP TEMPO footswitch, additional parameters with the MIX, TIME and FEEDBACK knobs, and Tweak 1 and Tweak 2 change function depending on the selected delay710. It comes factory loaded with 14 individual sounds distinguished by LED lights, selectable by footswitch10, and an LED above the Tap footswitch shows the tap tempo speed8.
For the D7 X2, Mooer recommends using only the original power supply included with the pedal, warning that third-party power supplies may cause noise or other unexpected issues7.

Questions
What are the six delay types on the Mooer D7?
The D7 houses six customizable digital delay effects, and MusicRadar named the six types at launch as tape, liquid, rainbow, galaxy, modverse and low bit. A seventh LED on the pedal indicates the built-in looper, which can be used with any of the delay settings.
How long is the looper on the Mooer D7 Delay?
The built-in looper records up to 150 seconds. Because the looper works alongside any of the six delay settings, reviewers noted it is a handy way to add layering to a live sound without a separate looper pedal on the board.
Is the Mooer D7 analog or digital?
It is digital. Mooer describes the pedal as housing six customizable digital delay effects, and the delay types include digital emulations of tape echo and analog delay alongside more experimental modes such as low bit and galaxy.
Does the Mooer D7 have tap tempo?
Yes. Mooer lists tap tempo functionality on the D7 that lets you set the desired delay timing easily. The D7 X2 version adds a second footswitch dedicated to tap tempo, with an LED above it showing the tempo speed.
Can I run the Mooer D7 on a battery?
No. The D7 runs on a 9V DC power supply with a current draw of 200mA, and there is no battery compartment. The D7 X2 draws 300mA, and Mooer recommends using only the original power supply included with the pedal.
What is the difference between the Mooer D7 and the D7 X2?
The D7 X2 is a dual-footswitch stereo version with 14 built-in delay effects, more than double the D7's six, plus stereo inputs and outputs. It also adds a tap tempo footswitch and draws 300mA instead of the D7's 200mA.
