The Mooer D7 X2 is a dual footswitch stereo delay pedal from Mooer Audio, first announced on August 5, 2021 as part of the company's updated X2 Series alongside the R7 X2 Reverb1. It is a supercharged version of the original Mooer D7 Delay, a mini multi-delay announced at NAMM 2020 with six customizable digital delay effects2. Where the original D7 had six modes, the D7 X2 carries 14 built-in delay effects, stereo inputs and outputs, a second footswitch for tap tempo, and a preset system3.

The range of delay effects runs from classic analog and tape delays to modern and experimental ones, including Low-Bit, Galaxy and PingPong3. Delicious Audio described it as taking the format of the popular D7 mini-multi-delay and expanding it inside a compact case with twice as many modes4.

What the D7 X2 does: 14 stereo delays

The D7 X2 was the first pedal to get Mooer's X2 treatment, which gave the original D7 a bigger enclosure, stereo ins and outs and an extra footswitch6. It features more than double the effects of its skinnier brother, the D7 Delay, while adding stereo inputs and outputs3.

The 14 modes span a wide range. Delicious Audio's coverage grouped them as running from classic analog and tape delays to more modern and experimental sounds such as Low-Bit, Galaxy and PingPong4. Two of the more unusual modes got specific attention in the press:

  • The Low-Bit delay integrates a degree of signal decay that can be extended into white noise7.
  • The Rainbow delay allows playing with the stutter-speed and adding pitch-shifting warble to the repeats7.

Controls

The control layout is built around five knobs, with the 5 knob layout and 7 preset system identical to its predecessor4:

ControlWhat it does
MixSets the delay level against the dry signal4
TimeSets delay timing, alongside the Tap Tempo footswitch3
FeedbackSets the number of repeats1
Tweak 1Adjusts a parameter unique to the selected effect781
Tweak 2Adjusts a second parameter unique to the selected effect781

The Tweak knobs are the heart of the pedal's flexibility. Mooer says the adjustable parameters are different based on each effect and can be customized with the Tweak 1 and Tweak 2 knobs3. MusicRadar's Jonathan Horsley explained that on each delay type the Tweak dials control a separate parameter unique to the effect, or simply control low and high cut on the digital and analog delays7. Guitar.com's Cillian Breathnach noted examples such as modulation depth and rate or bitrate reduction, depending on the chosen delay effect6.

Timing of each delay can be adjusted with the Time knob or by using the Tap Tempo footswitch for quick adjustments on the fly3. On the D7 X2, the second footswitch functions as a tap tempo, with an LED above the Tap footswitch indicating the tap tempo speed7.

Presets and trails

The pedal uses a 7 preset system4. In normal mode, the Save switch lets players switch between each of the 14 onboard effects, and pressing both footswitches simultaneously enters preset rolling mode7. Should you adjust a parameter, the LED will blink, indicating the tweak, and you can store it via the Save button7. Gearnews noted that the ability to save presets for each effect means you can easily recall your favorite sounds mid-gig5.

The D7 X2 also has adjustable trails bypass, which can be enabled or disabled by holding the bypass footswitch down6. There is a Trail On mode for adjusting how the repeats fade out7. Gearnews' Julian Schmauch highlighted the Tap Tempo and trails-enabled bypass as practical live features5.

Power and connections

Mooer recommends using only the original power supply included with the pedal. Using third-party power supplies may cause noise or other unexpected issues3.

The pedal requires a 9V power supply with center negative polarity and draws 300mA3. With two 1/4" mono input jacks and two 1/4" mono output jacks, it offers full stereo operation37. Accessories include the owner's manual3.

Where it came from

The original D7 Delay was announced at NAMM 2020 on January 13, as one of two new Micro Series mini pedals alongside the A7 Ambiance reverb2. It housed six customizable digital delay effects2. Delicious Audio reviewed it in March 2021 and found it packed a lot of features for its size, writing:

"That's a lot of stuff, for such a small pedal!"

Delicious Audio, March 20219

In August 2021 Mooer upsized and upgraded the D7 into the X2 format, giving it a bigger enclosure, stereo ins and outs and an extra footswitch6. The D7 X2 and R7 X2 Reverb were available as of August 5, 2021, though official prices had not been confirmed at launch1. Delicious Audio reported the D7 X2 Stereo Multi-Delay launch in November 20214.

What reviewers said

Gearnews included the D7 X2 in its best delay pedals buying guide in January 2026, at a list price of $93.00 USD5. Julian Schmauch highlighted its 14 delay modes, tap tempo, true stereo I/O and preset saving, but also passed on a caveat from players:

"A few players note that some of the deeper modes take a little dialing-in to shine5."

Julian Schmauch, Gearnews, January 20265

Delicious Audio's coverage of the original D7 noted that its mini enclosure and wide variety of sounds make it very appealing10, a character the X2 carries forward in a larger, stereo-capable form.

Questions

Is the Mooer D7 X2 stereo?

Yes. The D7 X2 has stereo inputs and outputs, with two 1/4 inch mono input jacks and two 1/4 inch mono output jacks, and it offers full stereo operation. This is one of the main upgrades over the original mono D7 Delay.

Does the Mooer D7 X2 have tap tempo?

Yes. The pedal has two footswitches, and the second one functions as a tap tempo switch for setting the delay time on the fly. An LED above the Tap footswitch indicates the tap tempo speed. Delay timing can also be set with the Time knob.

How do you save presets on the Mooer D7 X2?

The pedal uses a 7 preset system. Adjust a parameter and the LED blinks to indicate the tweak, then store it via the Save button. In normal mode the Save switch also lets you switch between each of the 14 onboard effects, and pressing both footswitches together enters preset rolling mode.

Does the Mooer D7 X2 have trails?

Yes. It has an adjustable trails bypass that can be enabled or disabled by holding the bypass footswitch down. There is also a Trail On mode for adjusting how the repeats fade out, and reviewers have pointed to the trails-enabled bypass as a practical live feature.

What do the Tweak knobs do on the D7 X2?

Tweak 1 and Tweak 2 control a separate parameter unique to each delay type. Depending on the mode selected they might handle modulation depth and rate or bitrate reduction, or simply low and high cut on the digital and analog delays. Their function changes with the chosen effect.

Can I use any power supply with the Mooer D7 X2?

The pedal runs on a 9V center negative power supply and draws 300mA. Mooer recommends using only the original power supply included with the pedal, warning that third-party power supplies may cause noise or other unexpected issues.
