The Mooer GE300 is a multi-effects floorboard from Mooer, described by the maker as its flagship multi-effect instrument processor1. It arrived from official Mooer dealers and distributors worldwide on June 4, 20192, and it packs amp modeling, a full effects chain, cab simulation, a looper, a drum machine-style workflow and a three-voice synth engine into one pedalboard-sized unit. At launch it was positioned squarely against the Line 6 Helix LT and the HeadRush Pedalboard3, and GearNews called it "a lower-priced equivalent to the Line 6 Helix pedalboard" on paper4.

Under the hood it is built around two Sharc DSP chips and an NXP crossover processor5, which Mooer says deliver "the fastidious detailed characterizes of every delay, reverb, modulation or amp model"1.

What it does: amp models, effects and a synth engine

The GE300 carries 108 amp models and 164 effects6. Guitar.com's review noted that the majority of the amp models are based on Mooer's successful Micro Preamp series7, so players who know those small preamp pedals will recognize much of the amp lineup. MusicRadar's Alex Lynham found "a decent cross-section of classic amps, from Fender tones, to Marshall, to modern US-style, which are actually pretty impressive," and summed up the unit's strengths as "great amp and effects tones"9.

The synth engine is the feature that set the GE300 apart from most floor multi-effects at launch. It has three independent voices, each with its own parameters for waveform, pitch, attack, level, filter and arpeggiator1. Mooer's launch material emphasized how deep the editing goes:

"Each voice is very customizable with options to tweak wave form, pitch, filters and arpeggiators"21

The unit also includes 43 optional factory cab sims3, and firmware updates have kept the effects list growing: V3.0.1 added an Intelligent Harmony effect to the FXA module, and V4.0.1 added four new overdrive and distortion models to the DS/OD module: ROD881, RED AT, ODR1 and BE OD10.

Tone Capture: amp, guitar and cab modes

Tone Capture debuted on Mooer's Preamp Live in 2018 and returns in the GE300 with three modes5:

ModeWhat it does
AmpSamples and captures a real-life amplifier11
GuitarCaptures the EQ characteristics of your own instrument11
CabSamples a speaker cabinet and creates IR files from it11

Amp Mode lets you profile your own amplifier so the GE300 can reproduce it; Cab Mode is an all-in-one way to make impulse responses from a cab you own; Guitar Mode captures how your particular guitar shapes the signal11. For players who already own an amp they love, it is a way to carry that amp to a gig without bringing it.

The controls and footswitches

The GE300 uses programmable footswitches with user-selectable LED colors and assignable functions, which Mooer says allows complete user customization1. Firmware V2.0.6 added a third footswitch control mode: in FS mode 3, from the bank select page, you can access eight preset patches via A, B, C, D and CTRL1 through CTRL410.

A large color LCD display handles editing and preset navigation4, and the rear panel is fully stocked for a floor unit7:

  • Mini-jack auxiliary input for media playback
  • EXP2 jack for an external expression pedal, also usable as an external switching output
  • Switchable guitar/line level input
  • Stereo send and return (effects loop)
  • Stereo jack outputs and stereo XLR out with ground lift
  • 1/4-inch headphone output
  • MIDI In and MIDI Out/Thru with easy mapping and external control switching for other pedals and amps
  • USB and a DC input for the mains power brick

The GE300 runs on a laptop-style power brick and mains power only87, so there is no battery option, and it is not a standard pedalboard pedal.

Firmware updates and NAM support

Mooer has kept the GE300 current with a long run of firmware updates, and the recent ones matter to players using modern amp capture tools: firmware V5.1.3 added support for loading Neural Amp Modeler (NAM) A1 models, and V5.1.4 added support for converting and loading NAM A2 models, expanding compatibility with NAM-based amp tones10.

  • V2.0.6: In FS mode 3, from the bank select page, you can access 8 preset patches via A, B, C, D and CTRL1, CTRL2, CTRL3, CTRL410
  • V3.0.1: Added the Intelligent Harmony effect to the FXA module10
  • V4.0.1: Added the ROD881, RED AT, ODR1 and BE OD overdrive/distortion models10
  • V5.1.3: Added support for loading Neural Amp Modeler (NAM) A1 models, expanding the tone model library10
  • V5.1.4: Added support for converting and loading NAM A2 models, expanding compatibility with NAM-based amp tones10

NAM model files can only be imported into the AMP module, so they take the place of a factory amp model rather than running alongside one. The companion GE300 Lite received matching NAM support in its V5.0.3 firmware, and its V5.0.2 update added dual third-party IR loading with independent or blended left and right channels in the Cab Module12.

The GE300 Lite and where the GE300 sits

In 2020 Mooer downsized its flagship with the GE300 Lite, a pared-down, more compact version131415. The Lite drops the onboard volume and expression pedal and two footswitches14, keeps MIDI In/Out16, and launched at a price a little below the Line 6 Helix and Helix LT, cheaper than the Boss GT-1000 and close to the Line 6 POD Go16. It was announced shortly after the GE150 and GE250 arrived at the end of 201917.

Within Mooer's own range, the GE300 sits above the GE200, an all-in-one amp and cab modeler, effects processor, drum machine and looper that MusicRadar's 2026 guide still names the best budget multi-effects pedal181. At launch the GE300 was priced at £745 in the UK7 and EUR 749 RRP in Europe4, with the US price still to be confirmed at the time7419.

MusicRadar's review team found the GE300 "with a smaller footprint than its rivals and rock-solid build quality"8, and Guitar.com named it among its best multi-effects pedals of 20198.

Questions

Can the Mooer GE300 load NAM models?

Yes. Firmware V5.1.3, released in July 2026, added support for loading Neural Amp Modeler (NAM) A1 models, and V5.1.4, released in August 2026, added support for converting and loading NAM A2 models. NAM model files can only be imported into the AMP module, so they replace an amp model rather than sitting elsewhere in the chain.

Does the Mooer GE300 load third-party IRs?

The GE300 ships with 43 optional factory cab sims, and firmware V2.0.6 added support for .GIR sample files, letting GE Labs and MOOER Studio users import their own cab captures. The related GE300 Lite goes further: its firmware V5.0.2 Cab Module supports dual third-party IRs with independent or blended left and right loading.

How much does the Mooer GE300 weigh?

Guitar.com's review lists the GE300 at 3kg, or 6.61lb, with dimensions of 410 x 201 x 62mm. That makes it a genuinely portable floor unit, and MusicRadar's review team noted it has a smaller footprint than its rivals along with rock-solid build quality.

What is the difference between the GE300 and GE300 Lite?

The GE300 Lite, launched in 2020, is a pared-down and more compact version of the flagship GE300. Mooer removed the onboard volume and expression pedal and two footswitches, so the Lite has two fewer footswitches than the GE300. It keeps MIDI In/Out and was priced below the Line 6 Helix and Helix LT when launched.

Does the Mooer GE300 have an effects loop?

Yes. The rear panel includes stereo send and return jacks, so you can route external pedals or a preamp into the GE300's signal chain. The rear panel also carries a switchable guitar/line input, stereo jack outputs, stereo XLR out with ground lift, a headphone output, MIDI In and Out/Thru, USB and a DC input for its laptop-style power brick.
