The MOOER GE150 is a compact multi-effects and amp modeler pedal from Mooer, first released on 17 September 20191. It packs 55 digital amp models based on Mooer's Micro Preamp series, 151 effects and a fully featured IR loader into a floor unit that Mooer says fits in most gig bags and backpacks23. It succeeded the Mooer GE100 in the GE line and has since grown into a family of its own, with the GE150 Pro, GE150 Plus and GE150 Max all descending from it45.

For a player, the GE150 is a whole rig in one box: amp and cabinet modeling, effects, an onboard expression pedal, tap tempo, a built-in tuner, an 80-second looper and a drum machine, with 200 preset patches to organize it all673.

What the GE150 does: 55 amp models and 151 effects

The GE150's 55 amp models use Mooer's non-linear digital amp modeling technology drawn from the company's PREAMP series6. Guitar World's reviewer noted the models are derived from Mooer's best-selling Micro Preamp series, and called the unit's amp modeling "Best amp modeling in its price class."7

Guitar World review7

Around the amp models sit 151 effects and a fully featured IR loader, announced at launch in 20192. The IR loader accepts third-party impulse response files, which Gearnews reported lets you chase "the same dynamics and feel of a real tube amp"1. The effects are organized into what MusicRadar's review team calls effects blocks, grouping the digitally created effects and amp modeling profiles into categories8.

One limitation Guitar World's reviewer flagged: each effect offers only three or four parameters, which limits your choice when it comes to modulations7.

The controls and footswitches

The GE150 keeps its control surface simple. There are two multi-functioning footswitches for cycling through presets4. Holding the left footswitch activates the built-in tuner, and keeping a foot on the right activates the 80-second looper7. An onboard programmable expression pedal controls multiple values by one touch, and a tap tempo function adjusts effect parameters61.

Later versions of the GE150 expanded this layout considerably:

VersionFootswitchesNotes
GE1502 multi-functionPreset cycling, tuner (hold left), looper (hold right)74
GE150 Pro4 multi-purposeBrowsing presets and triggering functions; improved control logic for live switching9
GE150 Plus3 multi-purposeControlled with an expression pedal10
GE150 Max8Four dedicated to the four presets of each bank, two for bank switching411

Power and connections

The GE150 runs on a DC 9V, 300 mA power supply with a negative-center plug6. Guitar World's review notes the 9V power supply is included7.

At 300 mA, the GE150 draws more current than a standard analog pedal, so it needs its own supply rather than a typical daisy chain output rated for a handful of analog stompsboxes.

Connections cover the full practice-and-gig spread: a 1/4-inch input, two 1/4-inch mono outputs, a headphone output, an aux input for playing along with a phone or external audio player, USB and micro-USB761. The battery-powered editions change the power picture: the GE150 Plus Li runs up to 9 hours on its built-in battery10, and the GE150 Max Li carries a 2000 mAh lithium-ion battery (7.4 V / 14.8 Wh) alongside its 9V DC 1.5A supply12.

History and versions: from the GE100 to the GE150 Pro, Plus and Max

The GE line began with the GE100, a multi-effects unit released in 2015 that ran on a DC 9V adapter or four AA batteries513. After more than a decade of evolution, that line was renewed in 2026 with the AI-powered GE100 Pro and GE100 Pro Li13.

The GE150 itself arrived on 17 September 2019 as a compact floor unit, priced around $200 at launch21. Premier Guitar's announcement highlighted its ultra-lightweight, compact design and tap tempo function3. MusicRadar's review team described it as succeeding the GE100, and MusicRadar recommended it "if you're searching for a first or new multi-effects, particularly if versatility and credible tones are more of a priority"8.

Since then the GE150 has seen several significant improvements4:

  • GE150 Pro: four footswitches (up from two), 200 factory presets, 55 preamps, 26 cabinets, third-party IR support, built on Mooer's updated GE series design language9
  • GE150 Plus: three footswitches and an expression pedal, up to 198 preset patches, available in two editions, one battery-powered with up to 9 hours of use10
  • GE150 Max and Max Li: 8-footswitch layout, 55 amp models, 26 cabinets, 170 effects, 200 factory presets as 50 banks of four, with the Max Li adding a built-in lithium battery111412

Both the Max and Plus share Mooer's recently updated MNRS modeling engine and a wide range of effects, and their cabinet simulations support third-party IR files414. The Max Li's connectivity list from MusicRadar's review shows how the line has grown: 1/4-inch input, 1/8-inch aux in, two 1/4-inch outputs, two XLR outputs, a 1/8-inch headphone output and USB-C12.

Above the GE150 family sits the Mooer GE300, a larger unit with programmable footswitches, user-selectable LED colors, assignable functions, a headphone socket and an aux input, announced in 2019152.

Questions

Is the Mooer GE150 true bypass?

No. Guitar World's review lists the GE150's bypass as buffered, so the unit's circuitry stays in the signal path even when an effect is off. Later models in the line, such as the GE150 Max Li, use a DSP bypass instead.

Does the Mooer GE150 support third-party IRs?

Yes. The GE150 has a fully featured IR loader, and Gearnews reported at launch that it supports third-party impulse response files to get the same dynamics and feel of a real tube amp. Third-party IR support carries through the later GE150 Pro, Plus and Max versions.

Does the Mooer GE150 have a headphone output?

Yes. The GE150 carries a dedicated headphone output alongside its two 1/4-inch outputs, an aux input for playing along with a phone or audio player, and USB. That makes it usable as a silent practice rig.

Does the Mooer GE150 have a built-in tuner?

Yes. Holding the left footswitch activates a built-in tuner, while keeping a foot on the right footswitch activates the 80-second looper, according to Guitar World's review.

How many presets does the Mooer GE150 hold?

The GE150 holds 200 preset patches. The GE150 Pro also carries 200 factory preset tones, the GE150 Plus holds up to 198 preset patches, and the GE150 Max organises its 200 presets as 50 banks of four.
