The Pedalnetics MIDI LED aux switch is an auxiliary footswitch built by Pedalnetics that adds MIDI-controllable LED lights to a rig. Announced on January 16, 2023, it came out of a simple problem: an aux switch expands a pedal or processor's footswitch functions, but its lights normally follow fixed rules. Pedalnetics describes the idea as "an aux switch, that also contains MIDI-controllable LED lights"1.
What it does
The switch works like a conventional aux switch, but its LEDs are addressed over MIDI rather than being hard-wired to a single behavior. According to Pedalnetics, the player can "set/control your own aux switch LED light status however you want to!" using MIDI commands1.
In practice, that breaks down into a few things for a player:
- The switch performs the aux-switch job, expanding the footswitch functions of a connected pedal or processor1.
- Its LED lights are controlled by MIDI commands instead of a fixed pattern1.
- The player defines what each light shows, so the lights can reflect whatever the connected MIDI device is doing as defined by the player's own MIDI setup1.
For a player running a MIDI-capable pedal, multi-effects unit or controller, this turns the aux switch into a visual part of the MIDI rig: each press can be paired with a light state sent back over MIDI, so the board shows what the connected gear is actually doing1.

Where it sits in Pedalnetics' range
Pedalnetics builds a family of aux switches and small MIDI controllers, from the Helauxy Duo and Helauxy Duo Midi v2 to the palm-sized Auxidi Duo and Auxidi Solo Mini Angled. The MIDI LED aux switch is the variant aimed at players who want aux-switch functions with light status they control themselves through MIDI commands1.
