The Pigtronix Cosmosis is a stereo, high-fidelity ambient reverb pedal that gives a player three original spaces to play in: Theater, Temple and Cosmos1. Pigtronix announced and released it on 26 September 2023 at a list price of $2191. Beyond the three reverb algorithms, its distinguishing feature is Morph: a footswitch function that blends between two completely different saved settings in real time, at a rate the player controls2.
The company says Cosmosis has been years in the making, and the three space algorithms inside it are entirely original, built from a combination of primary source impulse responses, imagined reflections and inspired mathematics34.
The three spaces: Theater, Temple and Cosmos
The pedal's three reverb algorithms are selected by small push buttons on the front panel, and each has its own character56.
| Space | What Pigtronix says it does |
|---|---|
| Theater | Puts the player in a variable room that ranges from cozy to highly reflective, using multiple parallel short reverberators5 |
| Temple | Occupies a dramatic, large indoor space by implementing numerous long reflections in both parallel and series5 |
| Cosmos | Creates an enormous spectrum of heavenly reverb derived from the harmonic content it is fed5 |
Delicious Audio described Temple as comparable to an adjustable Room reverb with short to medium-size reverberations, and Cosmos as producing near-infinite, ambient-like soundscapes7. MusicRadar characterized Temple as a large indoor space with its reflections in series and parallel8.
Controls and presets
The control surface is built around four knobs and two footswitches. Premier Guitar's reviewer found the layout approachable96:
"Cosmosis' control layout is smartly spaced, logically laid out, and pretty easy to suss before you ever touch the manual6."
Premier Guitar, 20246
| Control | What it does |
|---|---|
| Size | Sets the size of the reverb space4 |
| Blend | Wet/dry balance5 |
| Tone | Filtering of the reverb5 |
| Morph Rate | Sets the time it takes for parameters to change between the "red" and "green" values when the Morph footswitch is engaged10 |
| Space Select button | Toggles through the three available reverb spaces10 |
| Preset Select button | Push to toggle through four pre-loaded presets, press and hold to select10 |
The pedal saves up to four custom reverb presets, including morphing settings5. The maker's page puts it simply: "Save up to four custom reverb presets, including morphing."5
The Morph footswitch
Morph is the feature that sets Cosmosis apart from a conventional reverb pedal. The workflow, as Guitar World described it at launch: dial in your first setting, then double-tap the footswitch and assign a second2. Hitting the Morph footswitch then gradually adjusts between the two, generating what Guitar World called "a unique oscillating reverb that almost sounds like a modulation effect"2.
Tapping the Morph switch makes the pedal oscillate between the green and red tones at a rate determined by the Morph Rate control3. The left footswitch engages the morphing between those red and green values10.
Premier Guitar's reviewer noted a learning curve:
"Getting a feel for the switching sequences required to select and assign values can feel awkward, if only because the possible combinations are so many."6

Power, connections and footprint
Cosmosis runs on standard 9V DC power, drawing 100mA, so a typical pedalboard supply handles it without issue12. It is a stereo pedal with dual inputs and dual outputs2.
Premier Guitar noted the physical size in its review: "With its longitudinally oriented, rectangular layout, Cosmosis doesn't exactly have the smallest footprint."6 On price, the same review found that "At nearly $220, its price falls in line with comparable ambient reverbs."6
Cosmosis versus Cosmosis I
At NAMM 2025, Pigtronix launched the Cosmosis I, a compact take on the bigger pedal, priced at $1498. MusicRadar called it "a more compact version of its top-selling super-ambient ethereal phenomenon and reverb pedal"8.
| Cosmosis | Cosmosis I | |
|---|---|---|
| Footswitches | Two9 | One8 |
| Knobs | Four9 | Three: Tone, Blend and Size7 |
| Stereo | Dual inputs and outputs2 | TRS output jack79 |
| Spaces | Theater, Temple, Cosmos5 | Same three reverbs7 |
| Morph | Yes, with Morph Rate knob5107 | Yes, press-and-hold of the footswitch7 |
| Price | $2191 | $14910 |
Guitar World described the compact version as having "repackaged the ethereal sounds of its Cosmosis ambient [reverb pedal] into a single-footswitch compact pedal," with controls for Tone, Blend and Size joined by Space and Preset mini switches, and inputs and outputs that remain top-mounted9. On the Cosmosis I, the Morph function is activated by a press-and-hold of the footswitch, with movements trackable via LED color7. The Preset button toggles through the presets, and pressing and holding it saves a custom preset8.
If you are comparing the two, note that the original Cosmosis and the compact Cosmosis I are different products at different prices, $219 and $149 respectively. The Cosmosis I keeps the three spaces and Morph but reduces the control count and handles stereo through a single TRS jack rather than dual outputs1210.

Questions
How much power does the Pigtronix Cosmosis need?
The Cosmosis runs on a standard 9V DC power supply supplying 100mA, the same as most compact pedals. It draws enough current that a typical pedalboard power brick handles it easily, but there is no battery option mentioned by the maker.
Is the Pigtronix Cosmosis stereo?
Yes. The Cosmosis is a stereo pedal with dual inputs and dual outputs, so it can sit at the end of a stereo signal chain and feed two amps or a stereo recording setup. The compact Cosmosis I keeps stereo operation but does it through a single TRS output jack instead.
How many presets does the Cosmosis store?
The Cosmosis saves up to four custom reverb presets, including morphing settings. The Preset Select button toggles through the four pre-loaded presets, and you press and hold it to save your own. Each of the three spaces can also be recalled from the front panel.
What does the Morph function do on the Cosmosis?
Morph lets you dial in one reverb setting, then double-tap the footswitch and assign a second. Pressing the Morph footswitch blends between the two in real time, at a rate set by the Morph Rate knob, producing an oscillating reverb that can sound almost like a modulation effect.
What is the difference between the Cosmosis and Cosmosis I?
The Cosmosis I, launched at NAMM 2025 at $149, is a compact single-footswitch version of the original. It keeps the same three reverbs and the Morph function but drops from two footswitches and four knobs to one footswitch and three, and it handles stereo through a TRS jack instead of dual outputs.
