The Univerb Chorus/Vibe from Rockett Pedals is a chorus and vibe pedal with a built-in reverb, giving a player speed, mix, reverb and level controls in one box. The maker lists it at $224.99 USD as a B-stock listing11. It measures 4.75″ x 5.25″ x 1.25″ (2.25″ to the top of the knob) and weighs 2 lbs1.

As of the maker's current listing, the listed price on that page is $224.99 USD for a B-stock unit1.

The controls

The Uni-Verb carries four knobs plus the mode footswitch:

ControlWhat it does
SpeedControls the speed of the vibe and chorus1
Chorus/MixBlends the dry signal with the wet signal on chorus only1
ReverbControls the intensity of the Reverb1
OutputControls the output level1
FootswitchToggles between vibe and chorus on the fly1

The Univerb Chorus/Vibe carries four controls. The Speed knob controls the speed of the vibe and chorus, and the Output knob controls the output level1. The Reverb knob controls the intensity of the reverb1. The Chorus/Mix knob blends the dry signal with the wet signal, and the maker notes it applies on chorus only1.

The built-in loop solves the ordering question. Rockett says: "It is always best to have the Uni-Verb effect first in the chain and Reverb last in the chain so we have built in a loop"1. Time-based effects like reverb conventionally sit last, and the loop lets the vibe and the spring reverb keep that order inside one enclosure.

Power: 9V in, 24V inside

The Uni-Verb runs from a standard negative-tip 9V feed and uses an internal charge pump to bump that up to 24V for the circuit1. The connector is the common 5.5/2.1mm barrel1.

Rockett Pedals is emphatic about the supply: "DO NOT TRY TO POWER THE UNI-VERB WITH 24v OR ANYTHING OTHER THAN A NEGATIVE TIP OR 5.5/2.1mm 9v TYPICAL SUPPLY." Powering it with anything else "WILL damage the pedal and void your warranty"1. There is no battery option1.

The classic version of this pedal ran at 24V using a fixed power cable1. The current version takes a standard 9V supply instead, so older and newer units have different power needs.

The Univerb Chorus/Vibe is Rockett Pedals' combination of chorus, vibe and reverb in a single pedal1.

Questions

Can the Uni-Verb take a battery?

No. Rockett Pedals specifies 9V DC negative tip only and states plainly that no battery is available on the Uni-Verb. It runs from a standard 5.5/2.1mm center-negative 9V supply, which the pedal boosts internally to 24V with a charge pump. Plan your pedalboard power around a dedicated negative-tip 9V output rather than expecting a battery option.

What happens if I use the wrong power supply on the Univerb?

Rockett Pedals warns that powering the Uni-Verb with anything other than a negative-tip 5.5/2.1mm 9V supply will damage the pedal and void the warranty. That includes a 24V supply, even though the pedal generates 24V internally from the 9V input. Use a standard center-negative 9V output and do not share it with higher-voltage outlets.

Can the reverb go after the vibe in the signal chain?

Yes, and Rockett Pedals recommends exactly that. The Uni-Verb has a built-in effects loop so the Uni-Verb effect can sit first in the chain and the reverb last, which the maker says is the best arrangement. You do not have to choose between the two effects' order; the loop handles it inside one pedal.

How do I switch between chorus and vibe?

A dedicated footswitch toggles between vibe and chorus on the fly. The original Univibe used a rocker switch to select chorus or vibrato, and Rockett replaced that with a footswitch so you can change modes while playing without bending down.

Does the Mix knob affect vibe mode?

No. The Chorus/Mix knob blends the dry signal with the wet signal in chorus mode only. In vibe mode the blend control does not apply, which follows the original Univibe's behavior where chorus mode mixes dry and wet signals and vibrato mode outputs only the wet signal.

Is the Rockett Univerb based on the original Univibe?

Yes. Rockett Pedals describes the Uni-Verb as a painstakingly accurate photocell analog vibe based on the original Univibe pedal, with a spring reverb added. The original pedal's chorus and vibrato modes and its photocell-based design are the reference points for the circuit.
