The Soldano Super Lead Overdrive Plus, usually called the SLO Plus, is a two-channel preamp pedal that captures the playing experience of both channels of the SLO-100 amplifier, the company's legendary Super Lead Overdrive 100-watt tube head12. It delivers the genuine Soldano Overdrive high-gain channel as well as the Normal channel's crunch tones in a single housing, and it counts as an overdrive, distortion and equalizer pedal in one1. If you have looked at distortion pedals or preamp pedals built around famous amps, this sits squarely in that amp-in-a-box territory.
Where it came from
Soldano's SLO Plus carries the SLO-100's Overdrive channel into pedal form, and Vintage Guitar's Charlie Wilkins, reviewing the pedal in the March 2025 issue, described it as "Expanding on the original single-channel SLO Overdrive pedal, the SLO Plus introduces a Normal channel alongside Overdrive." Guitar Pedal X's Stefan Karlsson called it "A neat extension to the original SLO Overdrive - which adds in the Normal Channel too - giving you the full 2-Channel action of the original amp overall"53. The pedal runs on 9V DC, center negative, and draws 140mA1.
Controls
The layout mirrors the two-channel amp: each channel gets its own gain and volume, and both share one EQ section35.
| Section | Controls |
|---|---|
| Overdrive channel | Master (Volume), Preamp (Gain) |
| Normal channel | Master (Volume), Preamp (Gain) |
| Universal (shared) | Treble, Middle, Bass, Presence, Deep (side-mounted) |
| Footswitches | Normal / Overdrive channel select, Bypass |
Tone-shaping is courtesy of the shared three-band EQ, Presence, and a side-mounted Deep switch for shaping low end3. Each channel's dedicated Preamp and Master controls allow detailed tweaking of gain and output level, so the two channels can be balanced against each other the way a player would balance them on the amp itself3.
Build and power
The pedal has a durable metal housing, tactile control knobs, heavy-duty footswitches, LED indicators and a 9-volt jack3. Power is 9V DC center negative, and the current draw is 140mA1. That draw is worth noting when planning a board: it is well above what many standard daisy-chain supplies give per output, so a dedicated supply output is the safe assumption.
At 140mA, the SLO Plus draws more current than many pedals on a typical board. Check your power supply's per-output budget before sharing an outlet with it1.
What reviewers said
Vintage Guitar's verdict was positive: "Powerful and compact, the SLO Plus delivers usable, smooth, classic crunch or high-gain monster tone." Wilkins summed the pedal up as bringing some of the experience of a legendary amp right to your pedalboard, and judged it a realistic alternative to the SLO-100 amp3. Guitar Pedal X listed it among its best new distortion pedals of 20245.
Price and versions
Guitar Pedal X listed the SLO Plus at $270 USD as of 17 December 20245, and the pedal's list price is given as $270 USD4. The pedal runs on 9V DC, center negative, with a current draw of 140mA1.

Questions
What is the difference between the Soldano SLO Pedal and the SLO Plus?
The original SLO Pedal, launched in 2022, carried only the SLO-100's Overdrive channel. The SLO Plus, released in December 2024, adds the amp's Normal channel alongside it, so you get the full two-channel action of the original amplifier. Each channel has its own Preamp and Master controls, and both share the same EQ section. Vintage Guitar's reviewer described it as expanding on the original single-channel SLO Overdrive pedal.
What does the Deep switch do?
The Deep switch is mounted on the side of the pedal and shapes the low end. Vintage Guitar's review lists it alongside the shared three-band EQ and Presence control as part of the pedal's tone-shaping, letting you add low-end weight that the front-panel EQ alone does not cover.
Is the Soldano Super Lead Overdrive Plus analog?
Yes. Soldano's product listing gives the circuit type as analog, so the pedal processes your guitar's signal with analog circuitry rather than digital modeling.
Can both channels be used at the same time?
The pedal gives you the SLO-100's Overdrive high-gain channel and the Normal channel's crunch tones in one housing, selected with the Normal/Overdrive channel footswitch alongside a bypass footswitch. Guitar Pedal X described the SLO Plus as adding the Normal channel to the original SLO Overdrive, giving you the full two-channel action of the original amp.
