The Sonicake Amphonix is a Bluetooth headphone guitar amplifier with built-in multi-effects, aimed at silent practicing at home or on the move. Sonicake describes it as its "new generation Bluetooth headphone guitar amplifier" and an "Ideal Carry-On/Bedroom Guitar Multi-Effects with Headphone Amplifier for Silent Practicing."1 It plugs between your guitar and headphones, so you can practice without an amp or speaker, and it carries a list price of $39.99 USD as of the maker's product page.2
What it does
The Amphonix combines a headphone amplifier with a compact multi-effects section. Sonicake says it offers "everything you need for clean natural tone, toasty overdrive, and even heavy metal, ALL IN ONE!"1
"everything you need for clean natural tone, toasty overdrive, and even heavy metal, ALL IN ONE!"
At its core are six amp modules built on Clean, Overdrive and Distortion amp models that Sonicake describes as based on the world's most famous amplifiers, each with cabinet simulation so the headphone signal sounds like a mic'd cab rather than a raw preamp.1
Tone shaping is handled by what Sonicake calls a "four-dial hi-def tone shaping control" layout.1

Playing along with music
For practice along with tracks, the Amphonix takes audio in two ways:
- An aux in jack for jamming on your favorite tracks3
- Bluetooth audio streamed from a phone or computer3
The Amphonix supports Bluetooth input only. Sonicake states it cannot connect to a Bluetooth amplifier or speaker, so it will not send your guitar sound wirelessly to a Bluetooth speaker.1
Power and portability
The unit runs from a specially designed lithium battery that Sonicake says brings over five hours of continuous use, recharged over USB.1 At 63g and 96mm deep by 43.2mm wide by 33.5mm high, it is a pocket-sized unit in the same spirit as other Sonicake headphone amps like the Sonicake Pocket Master.1
Where it sits in Sonicake's range
The Amphonix is Sonicake's carry-on and bedroom practice option. Players who want a full floor multi-effects unit rather than a headphone amp can look at the Sonicake Matribox II or Sonicake Matribox II Pro, and the maker's wider line is covered on the multi-effects pedals page13.
