Behringer launches DUAL-PHASE phaser pedal

Behringer has introduced the DUAL-PHASE, a clone of Mu-Tron's vintage '70s dual analog phaser effect, MusicRadar reported on November 10, 20221. The pedal was previously teased as the Bi-Phase, and some retailers were still listing it under that name at the time of the announcement1. Gearnews dates the launch under the DUAL-PHASE name to the end of July 2023, after the BI-PHASE was introduced in February 2022 and quickly withdrawn from the market2.
The hardware appears to be the same as what was previewed earlier in 2022, which means it looks very similar to the original Bi-Phase1. Gearnews reported that even the layout is very similar to those of the original vintage units2. Behringer's own description of the pedal states:
"The DUAL-PHASE brings all the amazing features from the original '70s design, plus a few modern ones, that are sure to enhance your pedal board or synth setup."
The pedal costs $159 and, according to Behringer, is "in stock and immediately shipping" from the company's factory1. Gearnews lists the same $159 list price2.
Neither source states why the name changed from Bi-Phase to Dual-Phase1. Gearnews asked whether the delay was down to the chip shortage in the industry or a possible legal battle behind the scenes2. Gearnews also noted that Mu-Tron currently has a version called the Bi-Phase II still in production, and that Mu-Tron had previously stated that Behringer's Octave Divider was a total copy of its Octavider design2.
