BOSS announces GX-1 and GX-1B multi-effects processors

February 1, 2026 · 2 sources

BOSS announced the GX-1 Guitar Effects Processor and GX-1B Bass Effects Processor on January 16, 2026, describing them as entry-level additions to the GX multi-effects series1. The GX-1 is designed for guitarists, while the GX-1B is tailored for bassists1. Both were listed as available now at $229.991.

BOSS says the two units share identical features apart from their internal sounds and chassis colors1. Each offers eight simultaneous effect blocks plus a volume pedal and noise suppressor, adjustable effect order, and a selection of amps and effects1. There are 99 memories loaded with ready-to-play presets and 99 user memories1. Hexagon-shaped panel buttons represent effect categories; a tap turns an effect on or off and a long press opens detailed parameters1. Both units introduce Gear Suite, which BOSS describes as a feature for quick setup of amps and effects, with professionally tuned settings per type and user locations for saving favorites1. Footswitches and an expression pedal are freely assignable, and wired and wireless external control options are available1. Power can come from batteries, an AC adaptor or USB1. Bluetooth and USB connectivity are included, and the BOSS Tone Studio app adds YouTube integration, built-in rhythms, editing and sounds on BOSS Tone Exchange1.

A review of the GX-1B in Bass Gear Magazine describes the pair as modernized takes on the GT-1, with AIRD amp modeling, built-in Bluetooth and access to BOSS Tone Studio and BOSS Tone Exchange2. The review lists the GX-1B as made in Vietnam with 135 effect types, 16 amp types, 48 kHz sampling frequency, 32-bit floating point processing, a phrase loop of 38 seconds mono and 19 seconds stereo, and a color graphic LCD of 320 x 240 dots2. It gives dimensions of 307 mm by 149 mm by 73 mm and a weight including batteries of 1.2 kg, or 2 lb. 11 oz2. The review states the unit ships with four AA alkaline batteries but no AC adaptor, which is sold separately as part of the PSA-S series, and that it runs for approximately five hours on batteries2.

"As an amp and effects processor, as well as USB-C audio interface, this pedal can function as a whole pedalboard and recording setup"
