Diamond releases Dark Cloud delay under SolidGoldFX ownership

Diamond has released the Dark Cloud, a delay pedal it was designing in 2022 before the company shut its doors, now issued under the ownership of SolidGoldFX1. Gearnews and Delicious Audio both published reports on September 26, 2024; Guitar World followed on September 30123.
The pedal is built around Diamond's Digital Bucket Brigade Delay, described by Guitar World as a digital take on the analog delay chip1. It offers three modes. Tape is based on the Counter Point and provides up to 1,000 milliseconds of delay with modulation123. Harmonic uses the algorithm from the Quantum Leap, adding a delayed octave or fifth above the input signal13. Reverse is a new setting that pairs backward delay with lo-fi filtering; Guitar World reports that the analog feedback path alternates between the reverse and forward delays13.
Controls are Mix, Delay, Feedback and Modulation, with an onboard tap-tempo footswitch1. Tap subdivisions are quarter note, eighth note and dotted eighth, set via a Tap/Mode switch, and the footswitch also accesses a Doubler feature for instant or momentary doubling of the delay tempo12. The main bypass footswitch uses soft-touch relay switching, with selectable Trails or Kill modes12. Current draw is 45mA at 9V1. Gearnews lists an MSRP of $249, and Guitar World reports the pedal is available now for $24912.
"Dark Cloud unlocks a new frontier in delay technology unobtainable by standard BBD circuits"
Delicious Audio describes Diamond as Ontario's pedal brand, recently acquired by Montreal's SolidGoldFX3. Guitar World reports the company was forced to shut its doors in 20221.
