DOD released the Badder Monkey overdrive on December 9, 2025, according to Gearnews and Guitar World¹². The pedal is an updated version of the DigiTech Bad Monkey, which was discontinued in 2015²³.

The Badder Monkey keeps the original Bad Monkey circuit and adds two more: Behaved, described by Gearnews as a low-gain circuit for subtle break-up, and Badder, described as a modern, aggressive high-gain overdrive¹. Guitar Pedal X describes the pedal as "a redesigned evolution of the original X-Monkey, rather than a straight-up reissue"⁴. The three circuits can be mixed in parallel through a barrel-shaped blend knob, which Gearnews calls the patent-pending Barrel Control¹². A three-way toggle places the circuits in or out of phase, and a middle position, Troop mode, runs all three at once¹⁵.

Controls are Bananas (gain), Curiosity (level), and a dual-concentric Mood EQ with Grunt for lows and Screech for highs⁴¹. Gearnews reports the Bananas knob offers a triple-gang gain control for unified or separate adjustment of the drive circuits¹. The pedal is true bypass, runs on a 9V battery or 9V DC supply, and has a reversible StagePlate with a rubber pad on one side and a hook-and-loop pad on the other¹⁵.

Reported US prices differ. Guitar World and Guitar Pedal X give $159⁴²; Gearnews gives $145¹; MusicRadar and Vintage Guitar give $149 and $149.99 respectively⁵⁶³. MusicRadar lists the pedal as made in Indonesia, with dimensions of 70 by 118 by 55mm and 25mA draw³.
