EarthQuaker Devices announced on August 7, 2025 a Legacy Reissue of the Fuzz Master General, an octave fuzz limited to 1,600 units worldwide1. The pedal is priced at $179 in the USA1.
The Fuzz Master General is the Akron, Ohio maker's take on the vintage Ace Tone Fuzz Master FM-2 Professional fuzz machine, which EarthQuaker describes as "an octave fuzz that was very similar to the wildly popular Super Fuzz"2. Guitar Pedal X describes the circuit as "in essence just another re-badged Shin-ei / Univox Super-Fuzz"1. The original run of the pedal lasted from 2015 to 20181.
The circuit carries Fuzz, Tone and Level controls plus a three-way Voice toggle that selects the clipping style: germanium clipping in mode 1, silicon clipping in mode 2, and no diode clipping in mode 32. EarthQuaker says germanium produces "a more open and looser fuzz," silicon a "tigher, more compressed fuzz," and the open mode "a nearly clean octave-up effect" similar to ring modulation2. The maker cautions that mode 3 is very loud and advises turning down the level when using it2. The original Fuzz Master had a footswitch for two tone settings; the reissue replaces it with a variable Tone control2.

Switching is relay-based true bypass, which EarthQuaker says allows momentary and latching operation; because the switching is relay-based, the pedal requires power to pass signal2. Guitar Pedal X reported pre-orders placed with Andertons and stock already listed at Juno.co.uk1.
