Electro-Harmonix Ocean Abyss

The Electro-Harmonix Ocean Abyss is a dual-engine stereo reverb and multi-effects pedal, described by Guitar Pedal X as replacing the Oceans 12 as Electro-Harmonix's flagship reverb workstation1. Guitar Pedal X published its account on May 19, 20251; Delicious Audio's page carries an update date of August 18, 20252.

The pedal runs two independently programmable stereo reverb engines, each with its own pan, pre-delay, time, blend and low/high EQ controls, and both can be used at once21. The 10 reverb types are Room, Hall, Spring, Plate, Reverse, Dynamic, Auto-Infinite, Shimmer, Polyphonic and Resonant21. Up to eight effects blocks form a customizable signal chain, two of which may be reverb; the remaining blocks draw on digital, analog and tape delays, tremolo, chorus, flanger, phaser, graphic EQ, saturation, bit crusher and volume21. The stereo FX loop can be placed anywhere in that chain1.

There are 128 presets, recalled through the pedal's three footswitches or via MIDI1. The footswitches can be set to momentary or latching operation, and a footswitch press gives infinite reverb sustain21. Reverb tails can be switched on or off2. An OLED screen offers Performance, Settings, Physical, Explorer and Signal Path views, navigated with a rotary encoder21. Rear connections include stereo inputs and outputs, the FX loop on TRS jacks, MIDI In and Out, an expression/CV input, a footswitch input for up to three external switches, and USB-C for the EHXport app, which Delicious Audio lists as coming soon21. Conversion is 96kHz/24-bit21.

Guitar Pedal X gives dimensions of 18 x 14.6 x 5.7cm (7.125 x 5.75 x 2.25 inches) and a MAP/RRP of $4951. Delicious Audio and RockBoard both state a supplied 9.6VDC / 500mA power supply32; RockBoard lists 9V DC, center negative, 500mA3.

"EHX's Oceans Abyss replaces Oceans 12 as its flagship Reverb Workstation, with dual independent reverb engines, 10 reverbs, eight effects blocks, a customizable signal chain, stereo FX loop, and illuminated sliders."
