Electronic Audio Experiments released the Greathammer, a bass overdrive, in January 2026, according to the maker's changelog, which lists it as "Original release, January 2026"1. The pedal is priced at $249.001.
The maker describes the Greathammer as "a bass-focused overdrive that brings a distinct flavor of solid state thunder"1. It says the circuit took cues from a 1970s Canadian bass amplifier but that entire circuit blocks were redesigned from scratch, and that the pedal reaches deeper low frequency extension than its predecessors without a traditional clean blend1. The maker states it works in front of an amplifier or as a dedicated preamp, and that it also suits guitar1.
Controls are Level, Gain, Bass, Attack and a three-position Notch toggle. The maker rates Gain at approximately 50dB maximum passband gain, Bass as a post-clipping low frequency shelf boost of up to +14dB at 100Hz and below, and Attack as a pre-gain control for frequencies above 1kHz. The Notch toggle offers a full mid cut in the center position, a moderate mid cut down, and flat mids up. The footswitch uses momentary or latching behavior1.
| Specification | Rating |
|---|---|
| Bypass | Silent electronic switching with high-headroom op amp buffer |
| Input impedance @ 1kHz | 1MΩ |
| Output impedance @ 1kHz | <1KΩ |
| Power | 9VDC, 2.1mm center negative barrel |
| Current draw | 70mA |
The maker recommends a regulated, isolated supply rated for 100mA minimum, states the DC input is protected against reverse polarity and over-voltage up to 20V, and notes its pedals do not accept batteries1. The Greathammer comes in a Gray Acid Etch finish and with the maker's standard warranty1.
"Without taking away the classic piano-like attack that defined 90s noise rock, we expanded the tonal range to suit more tasteful playing or filthy, down-tuned mayhem."
