Elektron releases Analog Heat MKII OS 1.21

Elektron published Analog Heat MKII OS 1.21 on October 16, 2024, according to the release notes for the update¹.

The release notes list the changes from OS 1.20A to 1.21¹. Under improvements, the update adds Overbridge support for macOS Big Sur, makes general USB Audio improvements, and changes the MIDI port name to read "Elektron Analog Heat" over USB¹.

The bug fixes cover three issues¹:

• USB Class Compliant audio from the computer to the device could sometimes be silenced.
• Modulating multiple parameters over MIDI CC or Overbridge could sometimes cause the UI to stop responding.
• SysEx dumps could become corrupted when sent to certain computer software.

The notes describe two installation routes¹. From within the OS, select SYSTEM in the SETTINGS menu, then OS UPGRADE, and send the SysEx firmware file over the MIDI In Port or the USB MIDI In Port. From the startup menu, hold the [ON] key while powering on, press [LFO] to enter OS UPGRADE mode, and send the file over the MIDI In Port. Elektron recommends its C6 SysEx Tool for the transfer and states that downgrading is generally not recommended as user data may be lost¹.

The same date carries related releases for the other Analog Heat versions. The Analog Heat MKI notes list OS 1.22, which adds support for Overbridge 2.13, alongside the same 1.20A to 1.21 changes². The Analog Heat +FX notes list OS 1.02, which also adds support for Overbridge 2.13³. The Analog Heat is a stereo analog processing unit with distortion circuits, a filter and EQ; Elektron states that it attenuates the incoming signal to create headroom for those circuits⁴.
