Boss releases GM-800 system program Ver.1.50

July 1, 2026 · 2 sources

Boss released GM-800 system program Ver.1.50 in July 2026, according to the update page on the company's support site1. The update adds a tracking mode to GK SETTING, improves system stability and fixes an operations issue1.

The new setting is described on the page as a "TRACKING MODE that prioritizes responsiveness and reduces latency has been added to GK SETTING"1. The page states that GK SETTING can be switched according to how the player plays1. It also asks owners to update BOSS TONE STUDIO for GM-800 as well1.

The other changes in Ver.1.50 are listed as "Improved system stability" and a fix for "The issue with the unit's operations sometimes being disabled"1.

The same tracking mode addition appears in the Ver.1.50 notes for the VG-800, also dated July 20262. The VG-800 notes list a different set of bug fixes: MIDI control messages for EXP1,2 and GK SW1,2 not transmitting correctly, ASSIGN not working correctly, and the output level sometimes changing2.

The GM-800 update history on the page lists earlier releases: Ver.1.20 in January 2025, which added the GK Audio function, PART HOLD as a TARGET in ASSIGN SETTING, tuner modes and a 20-minute default for Auto Off; Ver.1.10 in May 2024, which added support for the BOSS GK5-KIT-G6, GK5-KIT-G7 and GK5-KIT-B, an OUTPUT MODE parameter for the normal pickup sound via the GK IN jack, and support for 7-string guitars with the GK5-KIT-G7 installed; and Ver.1.03 in July 2023, which added support for BOSS TONE STUDIO for GM-8001.

The GM-800 is a guitar synth unit in Boss's lineup of synth pedals. The update page gives the installation method: the file "GM-800_UPA_up.bin" is copied to the root directory of a USB flash drive formatted on a GM-800, and the unit is powered on while the [WRITE] button is held1. The page warns against powering off the unit during the update1. No price is given for the update.
