JHS Pedals releases Coyote fuzz, a tribute to Glenn Wyllie's Moonrock

March 31, 2026 · 3 sources

JHS Pedals has released the Coyote, a fuzz pedal based on the late Glenn Wyllie's Moonrock Fuzz, according to Guitar World and Delicious Audio, both published March 31 or April 1, 202612. Wyllie, a North Carolina builder, died in 201431.

The Coyote is a three-in-one fuzz that cycles through Swell, Fuzz and Octave via one mode knob, with a second knob for Volume2. Guitar Pedal X describes the Moonrock circuit as a multi-voice design that starts with a gated, swelling output, turns into a Tone Bender-esque searing tone around noon on the Fuzz knob, and grows progressively more cutting with a harmonic upper octave appearing at about two-thirds of the dial3. Delicious Audio describes the three zones as Swell (a gated, reverse-tape bloom), Fuzz (midrange-forward with full low end) and Octave (an aggressive octave-up)1. Guitar World reports the Fuzz mode is promised to handle chords and the Octave mode uses intentionally uneven clipping2.

Specifications differ between the accounts. Guitar World gives the price as $149, true bypass and standard 9V power2. Delicious Audio gives five milliamps, true bypass and a compact footprint1. Guitar Pedal X says the pedal is available widely, including the JHS Pedals Webstore3. Guitar World reports the Coyote was in development for over four years and is designed as "a complete one-for-one replica" of the Moonrock2.

"It's way more rare than a Klon. I looked for one for about six years. People don't get rid of them."
Josh Scott, Guitar World2

Guitar Pedal X reports that a search of Reverb.com and eBay found no original Moonrocks listed and no clones before the JHS release3.
