Meris has released the Ottobit X, a full stereo modular degradation and texture engine and workstation with nearly 30 effects, at a US list price of $599123. Coverage of the launch appeared on June 2 and June 4, 2026123.

The pedal combines bitcrushing, filters, preamps, pitch, modulation, glitch, VHS delay and reverb, tape stop and stutter step1. The sample rate spans 48Hz to 48kHz and the bit depth spans 1 to 24 bits13. Meris describes it as a "modular degradation and texture engine" with lo-fi sounds inspired by nostalgia for the '80s3.

The effect types are broken out as follows1:

Effect groupTypes
PitchPoly Chroma, Otto Tune, Micro Tune, Mono Chroma, Lo-Fi
ModulationRing Mod, Div Trem, Tape Mod, Freq Shift, Otto Vibe
PreampVolume Pedal, Tube, Vinyl, Wavefold
GlitchGrain Freeze, Stutter, Push Loop, Wikki Wikki
FilterLadder, State Variable, Otto Tron
AmbienceVHS Delay, VHS Reverb

The Ottobit X has 99 preset locations in 33 banks, a favorite preset bank for three presets, an instant access tuner, a Modifier section for routing control signals to processing parameters, a digitally controlled analog mix bus, and an expressive hold modifier switch1. It has stereo input and output on separate jacks, switchable instrument or synthesizer/line headroom, MIDI In and Out over standard MIDI DIN jacks, and an assignable expression pedal jack1. It uses an ARM processor with 24-bit AD/DA and 32-bit floating-point DSP, and is designed and built in California12. It runs on standard 9V power at roughly 280 mA, not supplied, and measures 184mm by 114mm by 51mm at 680g1.

Delicious Audio reports the sequencer grew from 6 steps to 16, assignable to roughly 48 parameters, and that the pedal ships with 18 artist presets and a color LCD screen adapted from the LVX and Mercury X2. It also reports MIDI over DIN or USB-C2; Guitar Pedal X lists MIDI DIN jacks1. Guitar Pedal X gives a MAP/RRP of $5991; Delicious Audio and MusicRadar give $59923.

The Ottobit X launched in a standard matte black finish and a limited Multidimensional Hot Pink version, which Guitar Pedal X says "seems to have sold out in all of 2 seconds"1. Delicious Audio describes the pink version as a final sale with no returns2.

"This project was one of our funnest," he says. "It took me back to the days of riding my BMX to pick out a VHS."
