Mr. Black has reissued the Deuce Coupe, the compact overdrive and boost pedal first released in late 2011. The maker dates the return to 12 years after the original and lists the pedal at a regular price of $199.951.

The reissue keeps the original's two-channel layout: a drive channel and an Ultra channel, with three controls on the overdrive circuit and the Ultra Boost level now adjustable from the outside rather than internally1. The maker says the pedal does not need to be first in the chain to respond to a guitar's volume control or picking dynamics1. It uses a 100% analog signal path with an internal +/- 9V split-rail supply, Click-Less relay true-bypass, a 9VDC 2.1mm negative center-pin power input and about 22mA current draw1.

SpecificationMr. Black figure
Drive channel gain+1dB to +40.8dB
Ultra channel gain+1.8dB to +56.5dB
Input impedance~480KΩ
Output impedance<1KΩ
Frequency response~15.92Hz to ~6.66KHz
Power9VDC 2.1mm negative center pin
Current draw~22mA

The maker credits Jack Deville with the original design and describes the pedal as "Incredibly dynamic natural and organic overdrive"1. Mr. Black also warns that at maximum settings the pedal puts out over +56dB of gain1.

"Fast forward 12 years and the Deuce Coupe has been reborn!"

Mr. Black also lists a B-stock version at $149.95 against the same $199.95 regular price. The maker says B-stock units have minor cosmetic defects but the same internal components and the standard 1-year warranty, and that those sales are final with no returns, exchanges or refunds2.
