One Control releases LX Tuner with switchable BJF Buffer

One Control released the LX Tuner with BJF Buffer, a tuner pedal that combines a Korg Pitchblack Custom tuning circuit with a switchable buffer circuit designed by Björn Juhl, the company said. Guitar World reported the release on July 7, 2022.
The pedal has an ON/OFF switch that brings the BJF Buffer in or out of the circuit, so it can run as true bypass or with the buffer engaged1. One Control says the switch is there for effects that react badly to buffering, naming old-school fuzzes: "impedance changes through buffer use and effects that are used to being connected directly to the guitar (such as some old-school fuzzes) may change the sound in unwanted ways"1. When the tuner is activated, the output can be muted for silent tuning1.
The tuning circuit is licensed from Korg for this unit1. It has four display modes: A Mode, Strobe Mode, Half Strobe Mode and a vertical Regular B Mode12. Detection accuracy is within plus or minus 0.1 cent, with a detection range of E0 (20.60 Hz) to C8 (4186 Hz) and 12-note equal temperament1. The reference pitch for A4 can be set from 436 to 445 Hz in 1 Hz steps12. One Control also lists the unit as usable as an auxiliary power supply1.
"The perfect tuner should never change the original tone and sound of your instrument. However, there are many benefits to having a properly designed buffer circuit in your signal chain."
