PastFX releases PX76 Punkifriar, a DOD FX76 Punkifier take

PastFX released the PX76 Punkifriar, a take on the discontinued DOD FX76 Punkifier, in 2023, according to Guitar Pedal X1. The maker describes it as "based upon the now discontinued DOD FX76 PUNKIFIER pedal (with additional features)"2.
The original pedal blended two circuits. PastFX says the Punkifier "was an in your face Overdrive/Distortion/Fuzz which could blend either circuits together creating new tones or isolating the effects by adjusting the Punk (Mix) knob"2. Guitar Pedal X describes the circuit as blending "a smooth mid-focused overdrive with a nasty, sitting transistor fuzz," with the guitar signal split into two separate pathways and blended back together by the Punk knob1.
The Punkifriar keeps the original control labels and adds a fifth control, Mead. PastFX's control list2:
| Control | Function |
|---|---|
| Menace (Level) | Output volume, "ranging from quiet all the way up to a huge decibel boost" |
| Punk (Overdrive/Fuzz Mix) | Blends overdrive and fuzz levels; overdrive counterclockwise, fuzz clockwise, 12 o'clock a blend of both |
| Spikes (Tone/highs) | Boosts highs clockwise, cuts counterclockwise |
| Mead | Adds top end sizzle; interacts with the Spikes knob |
| Slam (Overdrive Gain) | Gain of the overdrive circuit; does not affect the signal when Punk is turned clockwise |
PastFX says the Mead control adds "extra top end sizzle" when turned counterclockwise with Spikes fully clockwise2. Guitar Pedal X describes the added control as a "Mead" additional control, and elsewhere in the same article as a "Head/Mids Contour"1.
"A new Mead control has been added which can add extra sizzle. This control interacts with the Spikes knob."
Specifications listed by the maker are true bypass operation, a dimmable LED adjustable internally with a hex tool, dimensions of 112 x 60 x 31mm (4.4" x 2.36" x 1.22", enclosure only) and current draw of 10mA2. Guitar Pedal X lists the Punkifriar at $189 on the PastFX Reverb.com store1. The PastFX page does not state a price2.
