Walrus Audio has expanded its entry-level Fundamental series with the Fundamental Ambient, a slider-equipped reverb pedal with three algorithms, MusicRadar reported on 19 March 2024. Delicious Audio describes it as the first new addition to the 8-pedal series released by the Oklahoma-based builder in 2023¹.

The pedal has three center-detented sliders for Decay, Tone and Mix, and a three-way switch selecting Deep, Lush and Haze modes². MusicRadar says Mix sets the blend between the processed reverb and the incoming signal, and that the pedal can run fully wet³. Decay sets the size of the reverb and how long it takes to die out³. Tone works differently by mode: on Deep and Lush it acts as a low-pass filter controlling cutoff frequency, and on Haze it controls the width of a resonant bandpass filter³.

Deep adds a low octave to the reverb tails³. Lush is described as a "breathy, expansive reverb featuring ultra-long sustain"³. Haze is a lo-fi option with distortion, sample rate reduction and a resonant bandpass tone control³. The pedal runs in trails mode by default; holding down the footswitch until the LED flashes turns trails on and off³.

Guitar World lists buffered bypass, switchable trails mode, standard input and output, and power of 9V DC at 100mA from an adaptor that is not supplied². RockBoard gives the circuit type as digital, with 9V DC center-negative power at 100mA⁴. MusicRadar notes top-mounted jacks and a side-mounted power input³. Guitar World notes the pedal is not stereo, unlike some of its more expensive siblings².

The US list price is $129³².
