The Collision Devices BHS is a fuzz pedal that also carries delay and echo, so a player can get a big saturated fuzz sound and push it into repeating, washed-out territory from one box. Collision Devices places it among its fuzz designs, a family that also includes the TARS DLX, the Snack Fuzz and the FZ1.
The combination is the point of the pedal. Anton Mocock and Jack Looker, speaking on Collision Devices' artist page, described it this way1:
"We love BHS - the fuzz is HUGE! It's so nice to be able to blend the delay and echo."
That ability to blend the delay and echo against the fuzz, rather than running them fixed in sequence, is what separates the BHS from a plain fuzz pedal with a separate delay after it on the board1.
Who uses it
Alan Duggan of Gilla Band uses the BHS, and not only in the usual place in a guitar chain. Speaking on Collision Devices' artist page for him, he said2:
"We've also started using it on vocals quite a bit."
That makes the BHS, as documented by Collision Devices for Alan Duggan2, one of the pedals that reaches beyond guitar in use, closer to the territory of a vocal effect than a straight fuzz usually is.
