The Dr. No Octofuzz is a handmade analog fuzz pedal with a built-in Octavia-style octaver, made by Dr. No Effects. Dr. No describes it as "the famous, solid, true vintage Fuzz/Octavia tone," and says the circuit is based on the rare and expensive fuzz boxes of the 60s and 70s1. The Octaver section is switchable, so the pedal works as a plain vintage fuzz or with the octave-up effect layered on top2.
Delicious Audio's Brandon Stoner reviewed it as an octave fuzz pedal, all analog, and noted that it sits comfortably in both classic and modern territory: "capable of handling the legendary fuzz sounds of such rock pioneers as Hendrix, the pedal is also right at home dishing" out modern sounds in the vein of Queens of the Stone Age and the White Stripes3.
A vintage fuzz with a switchable Octavia
The Octofuzz pairs a vintage-style fuzz circuit with an Octavia, the octave-up effect associated with late-60s players. Dr. No says the standard version "really brings that nasty and yet sweet fuzz sound that take you back to legends such as Hendrix and Page"2. The fuzz side and the octave side are not locked together: a switch on the pedal engages or bypasses the Octaver, so the same box covers straight fuzz and octave fuzz duties2.
The circuit is Dr. No's take on the vintage boxes it is modeled on. Dr. No describes those originals as "super sexy but oh so rare and unaffordable Fuzz boxes from the 60s and 70s," which is the gap the Octofuzz fills: that circuit family in a current, handmade production pedal2.
Two versions
| Standard Octofuzz | 20th Anniversary edition | |
|---|---|---|
| Octavia switching | Side toggle switch12 | On/off footswitch with blue LED1 |
| Finish | Standard enclosure | Powder coated in Turquoise metallic1 |
| Components | Original recipe | All original and NOS components, recipe unchanged1 |
| Price | € 269.00 (May 2026)2 | € 293.00 (September 2026)1 |
The 20th Anniversary edition is sold as a separate product from the standard version, so a player who wants the footswitchable Octavia rather than the side toggle buys that edition specifically2.
The controls
The control set is small and conventional for a fuzz:
| Control | What it does |
|---|---|
| Input gain | Sets the amount of fuzz driving the circuit3 |
| Tone | Shapes the frequency balance of the fuzz3 |
| Output volume | Sets the overall output level3 |
| Octaver toggle (standard) | Engages or bypasses the octave-up section, so the pedal can be used as "just" a fuzz2 |
| Octavia footswitch (20th Anniversary) | Switches the octave on and off from the top of the pedal, with a blue LED indicator1 |
Delicious Audio's reviewer found the octave switch added versatility, letting one pedal cover both straight fuzz and octave fuzz roles3.
Where it came from
Dr. No's own pages give two different starting dates for the Octofuzz, and they disagree. The 20th Anniversary product page says "The Octofuzz is build since 2002, and celebrated it's 20 th year anniversary in 2022"1. A 2019 news post from Dr. No announcing the 10th anniversary edition says "The Octofuzz is build since 2009"4. Both are the maker's own statements; the 2022-dated 20th anniversary claim and the 2019-dated 10th anniversary claim cannot both be right, and the maker has not reconciled them.
What is consistent across the pages is the design itself: the original build uses the side octavia toggle switch, and the anniversary editions add footswitch control of the Octavia12.
What reviewers said
Delicious Audio reviewed the Octofuzz in 2016 and was positive about both its sound and its flexibility3:
"the Octofuzz is a great sounding (and looking!) pedal that delivers tried and true fuzz sounds, with or without the octave option"3
Brandon Stoner, Delicious Audio3
The same review noted the pedal had become "one of the most popular of the Dr. No line"3. Within Dr. No's fuzz range, the Octofuzz sits alongside other vintage-voiced builds such as the Dr. No SkullFuzz and the Dr. No Evil MotherFuzzer, and its octave-up section relates it to the Dr. No TVL Octavia and the broader family of octave and pitch pedals.

Questions
Can the Dr. No Octofuzz be used without the octave?
Yes. The pedal has a switch for the Octaver section, so it can be used as a straight fuzz with the octave-up effect off. On the original build this is a side toggle switch, and on the 20th Anniversary edition it is an on/off footswitch with a blue LED, so you can switch the octave in and out while playing.
Is the Dr. No Octofuzz analog?
Yes. The Octofuzz is an all analog pedal, and Dr. No states that the 20th Anniversary edition uses all original and NOS (new old stock) components, with the recipe unchanged from the earlier builds.
How much does the Dr. No Octofuzz weigh?
Dr. No lists the weight of the Octofuzz 20th Anniversary edition at 800 g. The maker does not publish a separate weight figure for the standard version.
When did Dr. No start making the Octofuzz?
The maker's own pages disagree on the date. The 20th Anniversary product page says the Octofuzz has been built since 2002 and celebrated its 20th anniversary in 2022, while a 2019 news post announcing the 10th anniversary edition says it has been built since 2009.
