The EAE 0xEAE Fuzz is an analog op-amp fuzz pedal from Electronic Audio Experiments, produced in collaboration with the design collective Obstructures. It is capable of over +80dB of gain with a massive volume output, and Delicious Audio's Paolo De Gregorio described the circuit as "the auditory equivalent of an angle grinder"1. It belongs to the wider family of fuzz pedals, and Electronic Audio Experiments later carried the same op-amp octave fuzz approach forward in the Glaive.
The 0xEAE Fuzz's enclosure is described by Electronic Audio Experiments as having imposing neo-brutalist geometry inspired by the brutalist architecture of the mid-1900s, a look the company compares to the monolith in 2001: A Space Odyssey1.
Controls
The 0xEAE Fuzz uses slide controls rather than conventional knobs, each with a distinct job in the circuit1.
| Control | What it does |
|---|---|
| Gain | Primary gain stage. Slide right to add gain up to +80dB. For conventional sounds, keep below halfway. |
| Texture | Blends in an analog octave up at the input of the fuzz circuit. Low settings add broken harmonics; high settings add a strong 2nd harmonic with harsh overtones and sub-bass artifacts. |
| Weight | Changes the cutoff of a high pass filter at the input to alter the attack and thickness of the fuzz. Slide left for a tight attack, slide right for crushing bass frequencies. |
| Master | Output volume level. Slide right to get loud. |
| Footswitch | Effect activator. |
The Gain control's own product description warns against excess: "Slide right to add gain up to an irresponsible +80dB. For conventional sounds, keep below halfway."1
Design and enclosure
The pedal's enclosure is deliberately imposing: Delicious Audio described its "imposing neo-brutalist geometry inspired by brutalist architecture of the mid-1900s," comparing it to the monolith in 2001: A Space Odyssey1. The collaboration with Obstructures covers both the circuit and that housing, and the same two parties also worked together on the Eldritch Blast1.

Questions
Is the EAE 0xEAE Fuzz analog or digital?
It is an analog pedal. The 0xEAE Fuzz is built around an op-amp fuzz circuit, and its Texture control blends in an analog octave-up signal at the input of the fuzz circuit rather than any digital processing.
What does the Texture control do on the 0xEAE Fuzz?
Texture blends an analog octave up into the input of the fuzz circuit. Low settings add broken harmonics, while high settings add a strong second harmonic with harsh overtones and sub-bass artifacts.
How loud is the 0xEAE Fuzz?
Very. The pedal is capable of over +80dB of gain with what Delicious Audio called a massive volume output, and the Master control's own description reads: slide right to get loud, very, very loud.
Is the 0xEAE Fuzz discontinued?
Yes. Electronic Audio Experiments discontinued the 0xEAE Fuzz as of Spring 2025. It was produced in a finite quantity, and the company said it plans to make the circuit in a new form in the future.
Who designed the 0xEAE Fuzz?
It was a collaboration between Electronic Audio Experiments and the design collective Obstructures, which is also behind the pedal's neo-brutalist enclosure.
