The Mirror House V2 Signature is a pitch-shifter and oscillator pedal from Electronic Audio Experiments, made in collaboration with the Boston indie band Pile. It creates two pitch-shifted copies of your incoming signal that veer off in equal and opposite directions: one voice moves up while the other moves down1. Where most pitch-shifters aim for clean, precise tracking, this one leans the other way. Guitar Pedal X described its character plainly:

"This pitch-modulation is best described as a deliberately imprecise, warbly and deliberately loose and laggy delivery"2

That looseness is the point. Delicious Audio found the results range "from subtle detuning and chorus to bizarre microtonal clusters, dissonant harmonies, and dynamic glissandos"3. Envelope-controlled pitch-shifting creates dynamic vibrato, glissando and divebomb effects as the voices are pulled apart1, so the effect responds to how hard you play.

What it does to your sound

The core circuit makes two pitch-shifted versions of the input signal moving in opposite directions3. Turn the Amount knob clockwise and the two voices move symmetrically away from the original signal, the upper voice up and the lower voice down1. Because the shifting is deliberately loose, the pedal sits somewhere between a conventional pitch shifter and a modulation box: at gentle settings it reads as detune or chorus, and pushed further it produces dissonant harmonies and microtonal clusters3.

Guitar Pedal X's Stefan Karlsson called it "a really interesting new pitch-modulation circuit, a tiny bit reminiscent of EQD's Rainbow Machine, but very much its own thing," and preferred the slimmer form factor2. In the site's 2025 round-up of the year's new modulation and pitch pedals, he added a note on how to use it:

"For me this is best applied rather subtly - with a flavour of its off-kilter sensibilities rather than the full on detuned experience."4

The controls and shift intervals

The pedal's modes include Shift, Detune, and Flutter, with Flutter selected by the middle toggle position213.

ControlWhat it does
AmountStatic pitch shifting; clockwise moves the two voices symmetrically away from the original signal, upper voice up, lower voice down1
AnimateAdds modulation to the Amount control; envelope-based in Shift and Detune modes, random LFO in Flutter mode3
MixBlends from dry to wet mix2

In Shift Mode, the Amount knob dials in 13 different intervals, from Unison through minor 2nd, Major 2nd, minor 3rd and onward up to +1 Octave2. Detune Mode applies the effect as detuning, and the new Flutter Mode, added in V2, functions similarly to Detune but with the Animate knob controlling a random LFO, which the maker describes as good for chorus and vibrato sounds1. Delicious Audio notes that in Shift and Detune modes Animate responds to your playing dynamics, so the pitch movement follows your attack3.

The manual includes suggested settings for Detune, Disorient, Vibrato, Stacked Harmonies and Divebomb, among others2, which gives a picture of the pedal's range from usable modulation to full-on pitch chaos.

Power and connections

Power comes from a 9V DC supply with a 2.1mm center negative barrel jack1. The current draw is 95mA1, which is modest by digital standards but well above what a battery or a minimal daisy chain is comfortable supplying, so a proper pedalboard power supply is the practical choice. Input impedance is 500kΩ at 1kHz and output impedance is under 1kΩ at 1kHz1, so it plays safely with most guitars and downstream pedals.

The V2 Signature uses relay switching with true bypass2. The original V1 release used mechanical true bypass switching instead1, so the two versions differ in how they switch even though both keep your dry signal out of the circuit when bypassed.

The V2 Signature made with Pile

The Mirror House was originally developed in collaboration with Electronic Audio Experiments' friends in the band Pile1, and the V2 Signature edition, released in May 2025, continued that partnership2. John Snyder is the designer behind the circuit, and Guitar Pedal X placed it in a run of his innovative modulation designs2.

Version 2 brought specific improvements over the original: updated relay bypass switching, improved envelope tracking for the Shift and Detune modes1, improved envelope sensitivity and lower noise3, and the new Flutter Mode3. The pedal measures 121mm x 66mm x 40mm and weighs 0.4kg1, and the list price is $249.00 USD1.

Questions

Does the Mirror House V2 Signature have true bypass?

Yes. The V2 Signature uses relay switching with true bypass, an update over the original V1 release, which used mechanical true bypass switching. When the pedal is off, your dry signal passes through untouched.

How much current does the Mirror House V2 Signature draw?

It draws 95mA at 9V, powered by a 9V DC center negative 2.1mm barrel supply. That is more than a typical analog pedal, so plan for it on a powered pedalboard rather than a small daisy chain.

Who designed the Mirror House?

The pedal was developed in collaboration with the Boston indie band Pile, and Electronic Audio Experiments' John Snyder is the designer behind its pitch-modulation circuit. The V2 Signature edition was released in May 2025.

How much does the Mirror House V2 Signature cost?

The list price is $249.00 USD, as listed by Electronic Audio Experiments and reported at launch in May 2025. The same price was still listed on the maker's site as of October 2026.

How many intervals does Shift Mode offer?

In Shift Mode, the Amount knob dials in 13 different intervals, running from Unison through minor 2nd, Major 2nd, minor 3rd and onward up to plus one octave. The two voices move symmetrically away from the original signal.

How big is the Mirror House V2 Signature?

It measures 121mm x 66mm x 40mm and weighs 0.4kg, a compact enclosure that reviewers noted as a slimmer form factor compared with earlier Electronic Audio Experiments modulation pedals.
