The Flamma FS21 from Flamma Innovation is a stereo drum machine and looper pedal in a single enclosure, aimed at players who want backing grooves and phrase looping from one unit on the board. Flamma describes it as a "High-quality looper (44.1kHz, 24bit) and drum machine"1.
Looper and drum machine together
The FS21 combines two functions most players usually put on separate pedals. The looper side records at 44.1kHz, 24bit, and stores your loops in 40 preset slots. Each track takes up to 4 minutes of recording, and Flamma puts the total recording capacity at 160 minutes across those slots1.
The drum machine side offers, in Flamma's words, "100 different drum grooves from 10 unique music styles and 10 types of metronome settings to choose from"1. That gives you a range of feels to practice or write against, from full grooves down to a plain metronome click.
A useful detail for live use: the pedal has a separate footswitch for controlling the looper and the drum machine, so you can start a groove and layer loops without one function getting in the way of the other1.
Controls and expansion
The FS21's two footswitches split duties between looping and drums, and the pedal can grow beyond what is on the box1:
- Two onboard footswitches: separate control of the looper and the drum machine1
- EXT CTRL function: supports external footswitches, purchased separately1
The external switch input matters if you want hands-free control of more functions than the onboard switches cover, for example starting and stopping drums while you stack loop layers1.
Firmware and editor software
Flamma supports the FS21 with editor software, listed on the product page as "FLAMMA FS21 Stereo Drum Machine and Looper Pedal Editor Software Supported"1. Updating the firmware is a two-step process per the maker's manual page:
- Connect the FS21 with the software via a USB cable2
- Press and hold the two footswitches and power on to enter upgrade mode2
Price
The FS21 carries a list price of $168.00 USD as of 26 October 2026, with the page also showing a regular price of $128.00 USD1. Flamma's own listing presents both figures, so the price you pay may depend on current promotions.
How it compares
The FS21 sits in a busy corner of the pedal market: combined looper and drum machine pedals. Flamma's own range includes the Flamma FF20 Looper & Drum Machine, the Flamma FS01 Looper/Drum Machine and the smaller Flamma FC12 Mini Drum Machine Pedal. Elsewhere, players comparing this category often look at the Singular Sound BeatBuddy 2, the BOSS RC-10R Rythm Loop Station, the Donner Circle Looper and the MOOER GL200. For a wider view of the category, see the site's pages on Drum Pedals and Looping Pedals.

Questions
How long can the Flamma FS21 record?
Each track on the FS21 holds up to 4 minutes of recording. The pedal has 40 preset slots, which Flamma says adds up to 160 minutes of total recording capacity, so you can keep several full songs or long jam sections stored at once.
How many presets does the Flamma FS21 hold?
The FS21 has 40 preset slots for your loops, with a total recording capacity of 160 minutes across them. On top of that, the drum machine side offers 100 different drum grooves drawn from 10 music styles, plus 10 types of metronome settings.
Is the Flamma FS21 stereo?
Yes. Flamma describes the FS21 as a stereo drum machine and looper pedal, and the looper runs at 44.1kHz, 24bit audio quality. That makes it usable in a stereo rig where a mono looper would collapse your sound to one channel.
Can I add external footswitches to the Flamma FS21?
Yes. The FS21 has an EXT CTRL function that supports external footswitches, which are purchased separately. Flamma also notes the pedal has a separate footswitch for controlling the looper and the drum machine independently.
How do I update the Flamma FS21 firmware?
Flamma provides editor software for the FS21. To update, connect the pedal to the software via a USB cable, then press and hold the two footswitches and power on to enter upgrade mode.
