The JAM Pedals "Mosquito" Double Dreamer is a dual overdrive pedal: two of the Greek maker's drive circuits, a Lucydreamer and a Tubedreamer, built into a single enclosure. JAM describes its pedals as spanning "vintage-inspired classics to boundary-pushing analog designs, each JAM pedal is crafted with care", and the Double Dreamer is an analog design1. It sits in JAM's Double Dreamer family alongside other limited-artwork versions such as the Pickle Freak, Relic and Tree Of Life editions1.

Two overdrives, one box

The pedal carries three footswitches: Lucydreamer, HIGH GAIN and Tubedreamer1. In its default mode the signal runs input, then Lucydreamer, then Tubedreamer, then output, so the two drives stack in a fixed order1.

Each side has its own knob set:

TubedreamerLevel, Tone and Gain1
LucydreamerLevel, Tone, Gain and a clean/drive Mix knob1

The Lucydreamer's extra Mix control is the main difference between the two sides: it blends clean and driven signal, where the Tubedreamer side keeps to the three-knob layout1.

The high-gain stage

The middle HIGH GAIN footswitch engages a high-gain stage on top of the two drives. A three-way toggle routes that footswitch to the Tubedreamer, the Lucydreamer, or both. Separate internal trimmers set the high-gain output level for each circuit, so the boost level can be matched to whichever side, or sides, it feeds1.

Y mode: switcher control and stereo

Beyond the default series mode, the Double Dreamer offers an Independent Y mode. This converts the IN and OUT jacks into breakout points for the two circuits, which opens three possibilities1:

Two TRS-to-dual-TS insert cables are required to use Y mode1.

Independent Y mode needs two TRS-to-dual-TS insert cables, which are not part of the pedal's standard jack wiring. Plan for those if you intend to run the two circuits separately or in stereo1.

Artwork and availability

The "Mosquito" is a limited custom artwork edition: JAM states that "Every custom artwork pedal is a one-of-a-kind hand-painted piece," so the artwork on an individual pedal differs in detail from the photos shown on the product page1. The regular price is listed at £389.00 GBP1. JAM ships the pedal DDP with 20% UK VAT and all duties included, with no extra charges on delivery, and offers a 30-day money-back guarantee with a refund no questions asked1.

Guitarist Kenny Wayne Shepherd is listed by JAM among the artists using this pedal1.
