The JAM Pedals "Relic" Double Dreamer is a fully handmade dual overdrive pedal that combines two of the Greek maker's best-known circuits, the Tubedreamer and the Lucydreamer, in a single enclosure. JAM describes it as delivering warm overdrive with clean-blend clarity and up to six footswitchable gain stages1. It sits in the same family as the standard Double Dreamer, with the "Relic" line adding hand-painted, one-of-a-kind artwork.
Controls and footswitches
Three footswitches run the pedal: Lucydreamer, HIGH GAIN and Tubedreamer1. Each circuit has its own knob set, so the two overdrives are adjusted independently.
| Circuit | Knobs |
|---|---|
| Lucydreamer | Level, Tone, Gain and clean/drive Mix |
| Tubedreamer | Level, Tone and Gain |
The Lucydreamer's clean/drive Mix knob is what JAM refers to with its clean-blend clarity claim: you can dial in clean signal alongside the driven signal1.
The middle HIGH GAIN footswitch is assignable. A three-way toggle routes it to the Tubedreamer, the Lucydreamer or both, and separate internal trimmers set the high-gain output level for each circuit1. That is how the pedal reaches up to six footswitchable gain stages: each side alone, the high-gain stage on either or both, and combinations of them stacked1.
Signal routing and Y mode
Out of the box, the Double Dreamer runs in series: input, then Lucydreamer, then Tubedreamer, then output1. For players with a switcher or a larger board, JAM adds a second wiring option:
- Default mode: input -> Lucydreamer -> Tubedreamer -> output1
- Independent Y mode: the IN and OUT jacks become breakout points for the two circuits, allowing switcher control, separate signal-chain placement or parallel stereo use1
Independent Y mode requires two TRS-to-dual-TS insert cables, which are not part of a standard guitar cable collection, so plan for that if you want the two overdrives in different places in your chain1.
Independent Y mode needs two TRS-to-dual-TS insert cables to work1. Without them, the pedal runs in its default series configuration.
The "Relic" artwork versions
The "Relic" Double Dreamer is sold in a series of limited, hand-painted artwork versions. JAM's own wording is "Same sound, different artwork": the circuit is identical across the range, and the paint is the difference1. Artwork versions listed in stock include "Bulbotron", "Glisten", "Mosquito", "Sticky Icky", "Tree Of Life" and "Achenbach", with "Pickle Freak" sold out at the time of the listing1. Each has its own page on this site, for example the Bulbotron, Glisten, Mosquito, Sticky Icky, Tree Of Life and Achenbach versions, and the sold-out Pickle Freak.
"Every limited artwork pedal is a one-of-a-kind hand-painted piece. The pedal you receive will differ in detail from the photos shown."
Because each pedal is painted by hand, two pedals with the same artwork name will not look identical. If the exact look matters to you, that is worth knowing before ordering1.
Power, size and practical details
The Double Dreamer runs on 9V DC, center-negative, and draws 110 mA1. That current draw is higher than a single simple overdrive needs, since two circuits are powered at once, so a dedicated supply output or a port with enough current is the safe choice. True bypass keeps the signal path clean when the pedal is off1.
The enclosure measures 13 x 10 x 5.1 cm (5.1 x 3.9 x 2 in) including jacks and controls, and weighs 430 g (0.95 lb)1. JAM links a manual for the "Relic" Double Dreamer from its product page for full operating details1. For UK buyers, JAM ships DDP with 20% UK VAT and all duties included, with no extra charges on delivery1.
