The JHS Supreme is the octave fuzz entry in JHS Pedals' Legends of Fuzz series, a line in which JHS revisits classic and lesser-known fuzz circuits. Guitar.com's review describes the Supreme as "an exact replica of Josh's favourite Super-Fuzz", an octave fuzz originating in Japan in the style of the Roger Mayer Octavia, meaning it produces that upper-octave ring familiar from 1960s fuzz designs1.

What it does

The Supreme takes the Super-Fuzz formula and extends it. Where the original circuit offers a fixed voicing, "the JHS version adds mid-cut and mid-boost options to the Univox circuit via those side-mounted push-buttons", according to Richard Purvis's review for Guitar.com1. That gives the player two extra voicings on top of the stock sound: a tone switch for a mid scoop and a mode switch for a mid boost.

The pedal also carries a JHS mode alongside the classic mode, as demonstrated by Dan and Mick on That Pedal Show in an episode recorded shortly after the Legends of Fuzz range was released in 20202.
