The Menatone Fish Factory is a dual overdrive pedal that puts two of the company's drives in one box: the 4-knob Red Snapper and the Blue Collar. Each side is an independent pedal with its own footswitch, so you can use either one alone or stack the two for a range of gain options. Menatone calls it "the ultimate compact tone machine"1.

Two overdrives, one box

The Fish Factory combines the 4-knob versions of the Red Snapper and the Blue Collar, both of which Menatone also sells separately as the Red Snapper 4 Knob PTP and the Blue Collar. Each pedal inside is independent and can be used alone or together, which Menatone says creates "a myiad of tonal options"1.

Guitar Pedal X, in a 2025 buying guide, described the pedal as featuring "Brian Mena's signature and proprietary Low Gain Red Snapper Overdrive - which has often featured on TP"3, referring to the Red Snapper side's appearances on That Pedal Show.

Controls

Each side carries the full control set of its standalone counterpart3:

ChannelControls
Red SnapperVolume, Gain, Hi-Cut, Bite (Presence + Attack)
Blue CollarLevel, Drive, Tone, Presence

The Vertical version

Menatone also offers the Fish Factory in a vertical layout, the Fish Factory Vertical, which the company says "takes up even less precious real estate on your board"1. It contains the same 4-knob Blue Collar and Red Snapper circuits in one box2.

The Vertical version adds an effect order switch. Menatone's product page explains: "The effect order switch allows you to change the order of the Snapper and Collar to best suit your needs"2. Guitar Pedal X, reviewing compact dual overdrives in 2020, noted: "You have a toggle-switch to set which comes first, and individual channel switches were you can also stack obviously"4.

The effect order switch is a feature of the Vertical version. If being able to choose which drive hits first matters to you, that is the version to look at12.

Power and build

The Fish Factory is built as two independent pedals in one enclosure, and Menatone states that each can be used alone or together to create a myriad of tonal options1. A newer vertical version takes up less pedalboard space, which Menatone describes as saving precious real estate on your board1. The pedal lists at $299 USD1.

Questions

Can the Red Snapper and Blue Collar sides of the Fish Factory be used separately?

Yes. Menatone states that each pedal inside the Fish Factory is independent and can be used alone or together, giving a wide range of tonal options. Each side has its own footswitch, so you can run just the Red Snapper, just the Blue Collar, or stack the two in either order.

Can you change which overdrive comes first on the Fish Factory?

On the Fish Factory Vertical version, yes. It has an effect order switch that lets you change the order of the Snapper and the Collar to best suit your needs. Guitar Pedal X notes you have a toggle switch to set which comes first, along with individual channel switches so you can also stack the two drives.

Does the Menatone Fish Factory take a battery?

No. Menatone's product page states the Fish Factory runs on a 9V to 18V power supply only, with no battery option. Plan to use a dedicated power supply output rather than a battery.

What voltage does the Fish Factory run on?

Menatone specifies a 9 to 18 volt power supply. The pedal accepts anything in that range and does not run on a battery, so you will need a power supply that can deliver 9V to 18V DC.

How long does a Menatone Fish Factory take to build?

Menatone lists the build time as approximately 3 to 5 weeks. The pedals are built to order, so expect that wait between ordering and delivery.
