The Mooer GE150 Max Li is a multi-effects pedal: a floor unit that combines amp modeling, cabinet simulation and a full effects chain in one box, with a built-in expression pedal and a built-in battery. It is the lithium-battery version of the MOOER GE150 Max, and it sits in a long line of Mooer compact modelers that began with the original MOOER GE150 in 2019123.

What sets the Max Li apart from most budget multi-effects units is its modeling flexibility. MusicRadar's review gives it 50 amp models, 26 cabs and 170 different effects, "further augmented by the addition of 3rd party impulse response support and the ability to load NAM (Neural Amp Modeler) profiles"4. In practice that means you are not limited to Mooer's stock amp and cab library: you can load community-made NAM captures and your own cabinet IRs.

Amp, cab and NAM support

The GE150 Max Li's signal chain follows the shape most modelers use: an amp block, a cabinet block, then effects. The amp and cab modules support Mooer's MNRS amp sampling system, which Premier Guitar described when the GE150 Max launched in September 2025: "the GE150 Max also supports MOOER's MNRS amp sampling system"1. MNRS files are Mooer's own capture format, so you can load Mooer's sampled amps and cabs in addition to the stock models.

On top of that sit the two third-party formats:

  • NAM (Neural Amp Modeler) profiles, loadable into the amp block4
  • Third-party impulse response (IR) files, for cabinet emulations1

For a player comparing circuits, this is the practical difference between the GE150 Max Li and simpler budget modelers: the tone library is open rather than closed. The original GE150 already had an IR loader for third-party IRs when it launched in 20196, but NAM support is new to this generation.

The unit comes with 200 factory presets, so it is usable out of the box before you start loading anything5.

The controls

The GE150 Max Li is controlled from its front panel and footswitches. MusicRadar lists the controls as "Master, select, mode, 8x footswitches"4, and the unit has a full color 3.5-inch display that Mooer says "shows all status info clearly, easy to read in any environment"54.

The built-in expression pedal is a core part of the design rather than an add-on. MusicRadar describes it as "an expression pedal which can be mapped to control volume, wah, and pitch effects, as well as controlling any effect parameter"4. When the GE150 Max was announced, gearnews noted that "the included expression pedal make controlling and changing your patches, looper, and effects without having to go throu[gh]" menus7.

For practice, the unit includes 40 drum patterns and 10 metronome sounds, both adjustable via a Tap Tempo switch, plus a stereo looper capable of 80-second loop times4.

Power: 9V DC and built-in lithium battery

The Max Li's headline feature over the standard GE150 Max is its battery. Mooer's product page describes the "Max Li Edition (sleek black with colorful expression pedal and built-in battery offering up to 9 hours of play)"5. The battery is a lithium-ion unit rated at 2000 mAh (7.4 V / 14.8 Wh), and the unit also runs on a 9V DC 1.5A power supply4.

The GE150 Max Li's 9V DC supply draws 1.5A, well above the 300 mA of the original GE15042. It needs a supply rated for that current, not a typical 9V pedal adapter, and the battery is what makes it practical for busking, travel and playing away from mains power.

For comparison, the original GE150 ran on DC 9V, 300 mA, negative inside2, with no battery option. The Li approach follows the pattern Mooer has used across its range, pairing a standard version with a black "Li" version, as it also does with the MOOER GE150 Plus and the MOOER GE100 Pro.

Inputs, outputs and connections

The rear panel covers recording, practice and live use. MusicRadar lists the full connectivity4:

  • 1x 1/4-inch input
  • 1x 1/8-inch aux in, for connecting phones or audio players for backing tracks or practice4
  • 2x 1/4-inch outputs
  • 2x XLR outputs
  • 1x 1/8-inch headphone output
  • USB-C

The XLR outputs are balanced, which Mooer describes as giving "clean, stable sound with no signal loss on stage"5, and there is a ground lift switch "to deal with any extraneous noise when playing live"4. The aux input and headphone output make it a self-contained practice rig when running on battery.

GE150 Max vs GE150 Max Li

Mooer makes the two models explicit: "Two models available: GE150 Max (standard power) and GE150 Max Li (with built-in lithium battery)"5. Everything else about the units is shared: the same 200 factory presets, the same display, the same expression pedal and the same effect library54. The choice comes down to whether you want to play unplugged.

The Max Li also differs from the rest of the GE150 family. The MOOER GE150 Plus is a smaller unit that, as gearnews noted, loses the balanced XLR outputs7, while the Max Li keeps them. Both the GE150 Max and GE150 Plus share Mooer's updated MNRS modeling engine and a wide range of effects7.

What reviewers said

MusicRadar's Matt McCracken reviewed the GE150 Max Li in 2026 and rated its build quality at four and a half stars, writing4:

"Overall, it's really well put together, and there was nothing here that worried me during my testing"4

He found the unit lightweight but sturdy4.

At launch the unit was priced at $2594, and gearnews listed it at $245 at Thomann in September 20257. For context on the family, Guitar World's review of the original GE150 called its amp modeling "Best amp modeling in its price class," while MusicRadar's earlier GE150 review was more mixed, noting "we're not fans of the pitch shifter"289.

Questions

How long does the Mooer GE150 Max Li battery last?

The built-in lithium-ion battery, rated at 2000 mAh (7.4 V / 14.8 Wh), offers up to 9 hours of play per Mooer's product page. The unit can also run on a 9V DC 1.5A power supply, so you can use it plugged in at home and on battery when playing away from an outlet.

Does the Mooer GE150 Max Li load Neural Amp Modeler profiles?

Yes. MusicRadar's review lists the ability to load NAM (Neural Amp Modeler) profiles among the unit's features, alongside third-party impulse response support. NAM captures are community-made amp models, so the GE150 Max Li can pull tones from beyond Mooer's own model library.

Can you load third-party impulse responses on the GE150 Max Li?

Yes. MusicRadar's review cites 3rd party impulse response support as one of the unit's features. Third-party IRs let you replace the stock cabinet simulations with captures of your own favourite speaker cabinets.

How long can the GE150 Max Li looper record?

The built-in looper is stereo and capable of 80-second loop times, according to MusicRadar's review. That is enough for laying down a chord progression or a practice phrase to solo over.

Does the GE150 Max Li have XLR outputs?

Yes. It has two XLR outputs alongside two 1/4-inch outputs, plus a ground lift switch to deal with extraneous noise when playing live. The XLR outputs are balanced, for a clean, stable signal with no loss on stage.

What is the difference between the GE150 Max and the GE150 Max Li?

The two models are the same unit apart from power. The GE150 Max is the standard-power version, while the GE150 Max Li adds a built-in lithium battery offering up to 9 hours of play. The Li edition comes in a sleek black finish with a colorful expression pedal.
