The MOOER GE150 Max is a floor multi-effects unit from MOOER Audio, announced in September 2025 as an expansion of the company's GE150 line. It carries 55 amp models powered by what MOOER calls intelligent reverse modeling, 26 cabinets, and 170 effects, and it supports MOOER's MNRS amp sampling system123. It sits above the original MOOER GE150 in the range, which MOOER has also developed through the GE150 Pro and GE150 Plus3.

The unit is built around live use: an 8-footswitch layout, an integrated expression pedal, a 3.5-inch LCD color display, and a balanced XLR output alongside standard 1/4-inch outputs132. Gearnews described it as the better choice in the line for live performers who need more foot control and full connectivity for stage setups4.

What the GE150 Max does

The GE150 Max is an amp modeler and multi-effects processor in one floor unit. MOOER says its 55 amp models are powered by intelligent reverse modeling for what the company describes as authentic classic tones, and the unit supports MOOER's MNRS amp sampling system13. MusicRadar's review of the battery-equipped Max Li counted 50 amp models, 26 cabs, and 170 different effects2; MOOER's own page lists 55 amp models1, so the two figures differ slightly between the maker and the press.

The signal chain is shown on a 3.5-inch LCD color display, which Premier Guitar noted provides real-time visual feedback on the effect chain and each module's parameters32. Presets are organized as 50 banks with 4 presets each, for a total of 200 preset slots1.

The unit grew out of a line with history behind it. MOOER's original GE150, introduced in 2019, was a compact multi-effects pedal with 200 preset patches, a programmable expression pedal, an auxiliary audio input and a built-in tuner56. Premier Guitar noted that the GE150 has since seen several significant improvements, including through the GE150 Pro and the GE150 Plus, before the Max arrived3.

The footswitches, dials and expression pedal

The GE150 Max uses an 8-footswitch layout that MOOER describes as being for fast preset changes and flexible live control1. Premier Guitar broke down how the eight switches divide up3:

FootswitchesWhat they do
Four switchesSwitch between the four presets of each bank3
Two switchesMove between banks3
Remaining twoActivate the tuner, the 80-second looper, and universal tap tempo3

A CTRL footswitch can toggle single or multiple effects instantly1. Editing is done with the "Select" and "Mode" dials, which Premier Guitar described as letting guitarists quickly create their own effects chains and then save them3. MusicRadar's spec listing for the Max Li lists the controls as Master, select, mode, and 8x footswitches2.

The integrated expression pedal can be mapped to tone and effect parameters, as well as output volume3. The tap-tempo footswitch sets the BPM of the looper and drum machine in real time3.

Connections: XLR, AUX IN and IR loading

The GE150 Max is equipped for stage and practice use at the same time. MOOER says the balanced XLR output delivers clean, stable sound with no signal loss on stage1. MusicRadar's review of the Max Li, which shares the platform, lists the full connectivity: 1x 1/4-inch input, 1x 1/8-inch aux in, 2x 1/4-inch outputs, 2x XLR outputs, a 1/8-inch headphone output and USB-C, along with a ground lift switch to deal with extraneous noise when playing live2.

The AUX IN lets you connect phones or audio players for backing tracks or practice1. For cabinet sounds, the unit supports third-party IR files for cabinet emulations, so you can load your own captures in place of the built-in cabinets3.

GE150 Max and GE150 Max Li

The GE150 Max comes in two models: the GE150 Max, a standard edition in classic white with external power, and the GE150 Max Li, which adds a built-in lithium battery1. MOOER says the battery offers up to 9 hours of play1.

MusicRadar's Matt McCracken reviewed the Max Li and tested the battery claim directly:

"I play-tested it for a good 3 hours, and it only decreased by a single bar, so Mooer's claim of up to 9 hours of life appears not to be hyperbole."
Matt McCracken, MusicRadar2

His review lists the Max Li's power as 9V DC 1.5A with a 2000 mAh lithium-ion battery (7.4 V / 14.8 Wh), and its dimensions as 326 mm x 204 mm x 63 mm2. The same review lists an expression pedal, rechargeable battery, looper, drum machine and ground lift switch among the features2.

The two-version pattern follows the rest of the updated GE150 line: the GE150 Plus is likewise available in a standard white version and a black lithium battery-powered Li version7.

Questions

How long is the looper on the MOOER GE150 Max?

The looper records stereo loops of up to 80 seconds. Two of the eight footswitches activate the looper, and the tap-tempo footswitch sets its BPM in real time, along with the drum machine's tempo.

Can the GE150 Max run on battery?

The standard GE150 Max runs on external power only. The GE150 Max Li version adds a built-in lithium battery that MOOER says offers up to 9 hours of play, and MusicRadar's reviewer found that claim appeared not to be hyperbole after several hours of testing.

Does the GE150 Max load third-party IRs?

Yes. Premier Guitar reported that the cabinet simulations support third-party impulse response (IR) files for cabinet emulations, so you can load your own cab captures alongside the built-in cabinet models.

How many presets does the GE150 Max hold?

The GE150 Max holds 200 presets, organized as 50 banks with 4 presets each. Four of the eight footswitches are dedicated to switching between the four presets in each bank.

Does the GE150 Max have a drum machine?

Yes. MusicRadar's review of the GE150 Max Li lists a drum machine among its features, and the tap-tempo footswitch sets the drum machine's BPM in real time, making it a jam-along tool for practice.
