The Mythos Pedals Luxury Drive Boost is a boost pedal built around a deliberately simple circuit: one transistor, one knob. Mythos describes it as "a deceptively simple boost pedal that does something truly special to your signal." The single LEVEL control adjusts the gain of that transistor, which sets the boosted output, so the whole pedal comes down to how far you turn it up1.
What the LEVEL control does
There is only one control, and Mythos describes two distinct ways to use it1:
- Set low: a nice amount of definition and sparkle, along with a little bump in the low end1.
- Turned up: a fuller boost sound that, in Mythos's words, "hits an amp in just the right way," the classic use for a boost pushed into the front end of a tube amp1.
Because the LEVEL knob is the gain of the transistor itself, the pedal covers everything from a subtle tone lift to an amp-kicking lead boost with that single control1.
Specifications
| Specification | Value |
|---|---|
| Output level | Approx. 14 dB1 |
| Input impedance | Approx. 1 megohm1 |
| Output impedance | Approx. 10 kOhm1 |
| Current draw | Approx. 15 mA1 |
| Bypass | True bypass switching1 |
The approximate 1 megohm input impedance is high enough that the pedal should sit well with a passive guitar's pickups, and the 15 mA current draw is light enough for any standard boost pedal power supply1.
Where it came from
The original builder of the Luxury Drive was Tim Jauernig. According to Mythos Pedals, after learning that Jauernig was taking a step back from building, Mythos connected with him: "we decided we could work together to re-invigorate the lineup and bring them back to new players the world over." The pedal has been revived under the Mythos name on that basis1.
Mythos has since built out a wider range of boost-adjacent designs, including the Mythos Argo Boost Deluxe, a two-in-one boost and octave fuzz developed with Mick Taylor of That Pedal Show, and the Mythos Cestus Treble Booster, a re-release of an earlier Mythos clean boost as a treble booster1.

Questions
Is the Mythos Luxury Drive Boost true bypass?
Yes. Mythos Pedals lists the Luxury Drive Boost with true bypass switching, so when the pedal is off your guitar signal passes through without going through the boost circuit. That matters on a pedalboard where you want the pedal out of the path until you step on it.
How much boost does the Luxury Drive Boost give?
Mythos Pedals specifies approximately 14 dB of output. The single LEVEL control sets how far the boost pushes, from a light touch of definition and sparkle at low settings to a fuller boost sound aimed at driving an amp harder when turned up.
What is the input impedance of the Luxury Drive Boost?
Mythos Pedals lists the input impedance at approximately 1 megohm, with an output impedance of approximately 10 kOhm. A high input impedance like that is typical for a boost meant to keep your guitar's tone intact.
Who designed the Luxury Drive Boost?
The original builder was Tim Jauernig. According to Mythos Pedals, after Jauernig stepped back from building, Mythos connected with him and the two agreed to work together to revive the lineup and bring the pedals back to new players.
How much current does it draw?
Mythos Pedals specifies an approximate current draw of 15 mA, which is light enough for most standard pedalboard power supplies.
