The Mythos x TPS Argo Boost Deluxe is a boost pedal with a blendable octafuzz side, made by Mythos Pedals in collaboration with Zach Broyles and Mick Taylor of That Pedal Show. That Pedal Show confirmed that the pedal was in production1, and Gearnews reported it as having dropped on 28 March 20252.
That Pedal Show described the pedal as in production1, and Gearnews reported it as released on 28 March 20252.
A full-range boost plus a blendable octafuzz
The pedal puts two effects in one box. Mythos describes the design as one "which allows players the freedom to balance out the Octave Fuzz sounds with a boosted Clean signal"3. Guitar World summed it up as a pedal that serves "octave fuzz and boost tones in one unit"4.
The octafuzz side was originally inspired by the now classic COB fuzz pedal. Zach at Mythos made the fuzz a little more aggressive with higher-gain transistors and lots of volume on tap1. On the That Pedal Show product page, Mick described the range of the blend control: "The blend control enables you to have anything from a very subtle amount of octafuzz, through to full-on, fuzzed out octa mayhem"1. Mick also noted the sounds it can cover: "Mick loves the Doyle Bramhall approach, but you can conjure some fantastic Hendrix and Sambora textures too"1.
The controls and switches
The two sides are laid out as separate sets of controls, each with its own footswitch5:
| Side | Controls | What it does |
|---|---|---|
| Boost | Big red Boost knob and right-hand switch, with its own dedicated footswitch | A full-range boost that can lift a clean tone into a clean amp, boost into other pedals or a dirty amp for extra overdrive and distortion, or act as an always-on boost15 |
| Octafuzz | Three white knobs and the left-hand switch, plus a Blend control | Adds in an octafuzz effect, from a very subtle amount through to full-on fuzzed-out octave sounds1 |
The boost side can be used independently of the octafuzz: MusicRadar noted that "the big red Boost knob and its dedicated footswitch allows you to use it independently"5.
Inside the pedal there are brightness options. That Pedal Show describes "a set-and-forget brightness boost switch for the boost side, useful for darker sounding guitar/amp or if you want it brighter", and notes that "inside, there are two internal settings to tweak the overall brightness of the boost"1. Mythos describes the same feature from the maker's side: "Inside the Argo Boost Deluxe there is a HIGHS switch that allows for some more tonal possibilities"3, added after Mick expressed interest in making the boost portion a little brighter overall3.
Where it came from
The octafuzz side of the Deluxe was originally inspired by the now classic COB fuzz pedal, with Zach at Mythos making the fuzz a little more aggressive using higher-gain transistors and lots of volume on tap1. The collaboration brought together Zach Broyles at Mythos Pedals and Mick of That Pedal Show, who confirmed the pedal was in production1. Gearnews reported the pedal as having dropped on 28 March 20252.

Questions
Who designed the Mythos x TPS Argo Boost Deluxe?
It is a collaboration between Zach Broyles and the team at Mythos Pedals and Mick Taylor of That Pedal Show. That Pedal Show announced the pedal in March 2025 as a two-in-one full-range boost and blendable octafuzz, describing it as an evolution of the much-loved original Mythos Argo, and confirmed at that point that it was finally in production.
What does the HIGHS switch do on the Argo Boost Deluxe?
Inside the pedal there is a HIGHS switch that Mythos says allows for some more tonal possibilities. It was added after Mick expressed interest in making the boost portion a little brighter overall. That Pedal Show also notes there are two internal settings to tweak the overall brightness of the boost.
Can I use the boost and octafuzz sides together?
Yes. The pedal is designed so you can balance the octave fuzz sounds with a boosted clean signal. The big red Boost knob and its dedicated footswitch let you use the boost independently, while the three white knobs and the left-hand switch add in the octafuzz effect.
What is the octafuzz circuit based on?
The octafuzz side was originally inspired by the now classic COB fuzz pedal. Zach at Mythos made the fuzz a little more aggressive using higher-gain transistors, with lots of volume on tap. The original Argo, released in 2022, was also COB-based.
How is the Argo Boost Deluxe different from the original Argo?
The original Mythos Argo, released in 2022, is a boost pedal. The Deluxe revisits it as a two-in-one, adding a blendable octafuzz side alongside the boost, with a blend control that runs from a very subtle amount of octafuzz through to full-on fuzzed-out octave sounds.
