The One Control Gecko MkIII is a compact, lightweight MIDI foot controller for quickly switching between programs on MIDI devices. One Control describes it as a response to the need for easy access to your favorite presets in an extremely quick and easy manner. It holds 20 presets, each of which can store one PC (program change) message for each of 16 MIDI channels, and PC signals on 16 MIDI channels can be sent simultaneously, so one press can recall a whole rig's worth of settings1.
Power
The Gecko MkIII can be powered by a battery or by a 9V DC external power supply, with a current draw of 25mA max using the power supply. When an external supply is connected, the pedal's two DC outs can also supply power to other pedals, which lets it double as a small power distribution point on a board1.
As of 26 October 2026 the Gecko MkIII was listed as sold out at One Control USA1.
Presets and modes
The Gecko MkIII gives guitarists three modes to access programs:
- Select Preset Mode (E1): MIDI signals are sent only when the OK footswitch is pressed, so you can scroll to a preset before committing to it1.
- Instant Preset Mode (E2): used for preset editing alongside E11.
- Direct Mode (E3): direct access to programs1.
For each MIDI channel in a preset, the PC number can be set between 0 and 199, or set to OFF, in which case no MIDI signal is sent to that channel. One Control notes a caveat: it may not be possible to receive a value exceeding PC # 128, depending on the receiving device1.
Tap tempo over MIDI
For each MIDI channel, a CC number can be set to send when pressing the OK/TAP footswitch. That allows tap tempo control of up to 16 devices at once, so a single switch can keep every time-based pedal on the board in step1.
Where it fits
The Gecko MkIII sits among One Control's MIDI switching products, alongside the Minimal Series MIDI Dual Stereo Loop, the Minimal Series MIDI Input Selector, the Minimal Series MIDI Solo Stereo Loop and the Basilisk. For a wider look at the category, see Midi Pedals.

Questions
Can the One Control Gecko MkIII run on a battery?
Yes. One Control states the Gecko MkIII can be powered by a battery or by a 9V DC external power supply. When an external supply is used, the pedal's two DC outs can also pass power along to other pedals, so the Gecko can act as a small power hub on the board. Current draw using the power supply is 25mA max.
How many presets does the Gecko MkIII hold?
The Gecko MkIII holds 20 presets. Each preset can store one PC (program change) message for each of 16 MIDI channels, so a single footswitch press can recall a complete setup across every MIDI device on the board.
How many MIDI channels can the Gecko MkIII send to at once?
PC signals on 16 MIDI channels can be sent simultaneously. Each preset stores one program change message per channel, and the PC number for each channel can be set between 0 and 199, or set to OFF so no MIDI signal is sent to that channel.
Why does the Gecko MkIII only send MIDI when I press the OK footswitch?
In Select Preset Mode (E1), MIDI signals are sent only when the OK footswitch is pressed. That is how the mode is designed: you use the other switches to scroll to the preset you want, and the OK footswitch confirms the choice and sends the MIDI messages.
Can the Gecko MkIII control tap tempo?
Yes. For each MIDI channel, a CC number can be set to send when pressing the OK/TAP footswitch, which allows tap tempo control of up to 16 devices at once.
