The Red Witch Delilah is a germanium fuzz pedal built as a faithful take on the Tone Bender Mk1.5, one of the rarest fuzz pedals on the planet according to the maker. Red Witch describes the Mk1.5 as the "Father of the Fuzz Face," saying the circuit inspired the Fuzz Face, which used different germanium transistors and had a much less tight bottom end1. The Delilah is sold out: the maker lists it as a limited run of 99 units, priced at 599 USD as of 26 October 2026, and once they are gone there will be no more, because the supply of OC75 transistors will be exhausted1.

The circuit and where it came from

The original Tone Bender Mk1.5 was an influential two-transistor fuzz box built by Sola Sound in the mid-1960s, typically with two Mullard OC75 germanium transistors2. Red Witch holds an original unit from 1966 in its collection, and says every Delilah is A/B'd against that original Mk1.5 before it ships1.

The Delilah is not a straight clone. Red Witch says that when its two additional controls are wound back, the pedal operates exactly as an original Tone Bender Mk1.5, with the gate control adjusting the gate level as one of those extras1.

"The Mk1.5 also wears the auspicious crown of 'Father of the Fuzz Face' - the circuit for the Mk1.5 inspired the Fuzz F..."

Build and power

Red Witch describes each Delilah as hand built, numbered and signed, using ultra premium, through-hole components and premium Neutrik sockets1. Power is straightforward despite the germanium parts:

  • Runs from a standard DC 9 volt power supply1
  • The pedal generates the reverse polarity supply the PNP OC75 transistors require internally, so no special adapter is needed1
  • True bypass switching with an ultralong life footswitch1

The Delilah is a limited run of 99 units and is listed as Sold Out on the maker's page as of 26 October 20261.

The Mk1.5 circuit has drawn other modern builders. The Brantone Electronics Tonemaster Mk1.5 Germanium Fuzz is a high-end take on the Tonebender type circuit from a UK company, with tag-board circuit construction3. Within Red Witch's own fuzz range, the Red Witch Fuzz God IV, Red Witch Ophelia and Red Witch Valentina - The Fuzz cover different approaches to the effect; see the full Fuzz Pedals type page for more.

Questions

Is the Red Witch Delilah true bypass?

Yes. Red Witch says the Delilah uses an ultralong life, true bypass footswitch, along with premium Neutrik sockets for the input and output connections.

What power supply does the Red Witch Delilah need?

The Delilah runs from a standard DC 9 volt power supply. Although the PNP OC75 transistors inside need a reverse polarity supply, the pedal generates that internally, so a standard center negative supply works without special adapters.

What does the gate control do on the Delilah?

The Delilah has a control to adjust the gate level. With the added controls wound back, the pedal operates exactly as an original Tone Bender Mk1.5, so the gate is one of the two extras layered on top of that stock circuit.

What transistors does the Red Witch Delilah use?

Each Delilah uses two original, new-old-stock OC75 germanium transistors, the same type found at the heart of the original Tone Bender Mk1.5. The limited run of 99 units exists because Red Witch's supply of OC75s is finite.
