The Sitek Fuzzie Fuzz V2 is a dynamic germanium fuzz pedal from Sitek Guitar Electronics, with an all-analog signal path built from new old stock transistors and a JFET buffer1. It ships now, priced at $165 in the US and £125 in the UK1, finished in a powder-coated Champagne Sparkle enclosure and fitted with a DeMont Smooth-Click footswitch1.

MusicRadar describes the pedal as "designed to offer a wide range of fuzz tones, from vintage breakup to a super-peachy fuzz, rich in harmonics and sustain"1. In other words, it is not a one-sound box: rolled back it sits near mild distortion territory, and pushed it delivers the saturated, harmonic-rich sustain germanium fuzz is known for.

What it does

The Fuzzie Fuzz V2 is a four-knob germanium fuzz in a compact enclosure, finished in a powder-coated Champagne Sparkle finish and built around a DeMont Smooth-Click footswitch21. Its circuit uses new old stock germanium transistors and a JFET buffer in an all-analog signal path1.

Guitar Pedal X's review notes that the transistors appear to be the same sort of Russian germanium parts found in the Fulltone Queen Bee and Spaceman Sputnik pedals, and frames the control set in familiar terms3:

"Those 4 controls are just perfect for a Fuzz Face - Level, Fuzz, Texture/Smoothness, Bias"
Stefan Karlsson, Guitar Pedal X3

That comparison tells an experienced player a lot: this is Fuzz Face-style germanium fuzz territory, with the addition of a Texture control that the original Fuzzie did not have, plus a Bias knob for dialing in the transistors' operating point3.

One feature sets it apart from most germanium fuzzes. MusicRadar reports:

"With its impedance matching circuit, you can place the pedal before or after a buffer in the signal path."
Jonathan Horsley, MusicRadar1

Traditional germanium fuzz circuits are sensitive to what feeds them, and many lose their character when placed after a buffer or any buffered bypass pedal. The Fuzzie Fuzz V2's impedance matching circuit allows it to be placed before or after a buffer in the signal path, which is a practical advantage on a modern pedalboard1.

The controls and signal path

The pedal has four controls, listed by Premier Guitar as "Level, Fuzz, Texture and Bias"2. MusicRadar's coverage adds that the enclosure carries the Level and Fuzz controls alongside the new Texture knob1.

ControlWhat it does
LevelSets the output volume21
FuzzSets the amount of fuzz, from vintage breakup to full saturation21
TextureNew for V2; shapes the fuzz character, described by Guitar Pedal X as a Texture/Smoothness control23
BiasAdjusts the bias point of the germanium transistors23

The V2's changes over the original Fuzzie come down to two things in practice: the added Texture control and the improved output level23. Guitar Pedal X called the Texture/Smoothness control "superb" in its comparison of the two versions3.

The signal path is all-analog, built from new old stock germanium transistors and a JFET buffer, with true bypass switching so the pedal drops out of the chain entirely when off21. Power comes from a 9V DC supply or a standard 9V battery21.

How it compares

Against other V2 fuzz pedals of its era, the Fuzzie Fuzz V2 sits on the vintage, germanium end of the spectrum. The Haunted Labs Paranormal Fuzz V2, by contrast, is a high-gain filtered silicon fuzz4, and the Poison Noises Glutnik Fuzz V2 adds a diode selector for multiple clipping flavors5. The Fuzzie Fuzz V2 offers neither silicon-style high gain nor clipping options; its appeal is the smoother, dynamic, harmonic-rich character of germanium, with a Bias knob to tune it.

At launch it was available on Reverb.com and directly from the Sitek Guitar Electronics website2.

Questions

Is the Sitek Fuzzie Fuzz V2 true bypass?

Yes. Both the Premier Guitar announcement and MusicRadar's news coverage list the Fuzzie Fuzz V2 as true bypass, so the pedal's circuit is fully out of the signal chain when it is switched off.

Does the Sitek Fuzzie Fuzz V2 use germanium transistors?

Yes. MusicRadar reports that the V2 circuit uses new old stock germanium transistors, and Guitar Pedal X's review notes it appears to use the same sort of Russian germanium transistors found in the Fulltone Queen Bee and Spaceman Sputnik pedals.

Can the Fuzzie Fuzz V2 go before or after a buffer?

Yes. MusicRadar reports that the pedal has an impedance matching circuit, so it can be placed before or after a buffer in the signal path. That is unusual for a germanium fuzz, which traditionally wants to see the guitar directly.

Does the Fuzzie Fuzz V2 run on a battery?

Yes. It is powered by a 9V battery or a 9V DC supply, so it works on a pedalboard power brick as well as off-grid with a battery.

How long is the warranty on the Sitek Fuzzie Fuzz V2?

MusicRadar reports that the Fuzzie Fuzz V2 comes with a five-year warranty from Sitek Guitar Electronics.
