The Tone City Tiny Spring is a mini-format spring reverb pedal with a single knob. Tone City describes it as "an ultimate combination of the analogue and digital reverb" that "gives you realistic spring reverb sounds with its signature warmth"1. There is no spring tank inside: the pedal uses a combined analog and digital approach to get the splash and drip of a classic spring unit into a box small enough for the corner of any pedalboard.

The one knob acts as level and depth in one. Tone City says that set low it gives "your classic F-style spring reverb, a distinctive sound that has been heard across countless" recordings, and turned up it opens into a cavernous surf rock sound1. Pedal of the Day put it the same way: "With just one lone knob, you can go from traditional to the outer space with ease"2.

One knob, two sounds

The single control is the whole interface, and it is doing two jobs at once123.

For a player who wants one reverb sound per song and does not want to fiddle with mix, tone and decay controls, that is the whole appeal. Pedal of the Day noted that one-knob pedals "sometimes get overlooked or are under-appreciated, but when they sound like the Tiny Spring v2025 Spring Reverb, all of those stereotypes go right out the window"2.

Analog, digital, or both?

The Tiny Spring is not a physical spring tank and not a straightforward digital emulation. Tone City's own description puts it between the two: a combination of analog and digital reverb aimed at realistic spring sounds with warmth1. Pedal of the Day repeats the same framing for the v2025 version, calling it "an ultimate combination of the analogue and digital"2.

The pedal has been revised since its original release. On the updated version, Tone City upgraded the main key chip for what the maker calls much better timbre consistency1. Pedal of the Day, reviewing the v2025 version in August 2025, reported that Tone City "has upgraded the circuit and adjusted the components, and the tone has been improved to get much closer to a real spring reverb"2.

Power and board fit

The Tiny Spring runs on a DC 9V adapter only, drawing 95 mA1. Tone City recommends its own TPS series pedal power supplies, but any 9V DC supply that covers the draw will run it. There is no battery option, so this is a pedal that needs a spot on your power supply.

At 95 mA the Tiny Spring draws more current than many analog drives and boosts. It will run fine on most isolated supplies, but on a tight daisy chain budget the draw adds up.

The enclosure measures 9.4 cm long, 4.5 cm wide and 4.8 cm high, and weighs 0.26 kg1. That is a true mini footprint, small enough to slot into leftover space on a board where a full-size reverb would not fit.

With gain pedals

Tone City states the Tiny Spring "will not influence the features of the original sound when used together with distortion and overdrive pedals"1. In practice that means you can place it after your gain stages and the character of those pedals stays intact, rather than the reverb reshaping the front of your sound. Pedal of the Day makes the same point about the v2025 version2.

Price and availability

Delicious Audio listed the Tiny Spring at $60 USD in March 2018, calling it a "one knob, no frills" spring reverb pedal3. That price dates from the original release; the current v2025 version, which Pedal of the Day says is available through Osiamo Music Gear2, may be priced differently. Pedal of the Day has also named the Tiny Spring Reverb one of Tone City's two best sellers, alongside the Tape Machine Delay, as pedals that work best within their limits4.

Questions

Is the Tone City Tiny Spring true bypass?

Yes. Tone City lists the Tiny Spring as True Bypass, so when the pedal is switched off your dry signal passes through without buffering or coloring. That makes it a safe fit on a crowded board where you want the pedal to disappear when it is not in use.

Does the Tiny Spring take a battery?

No. The Tiny Spring is powered by a DC 9V adapter only, with a current draw of 95 mA. Tone City recommends its own TPS series pedal power supplies, but any standard 9V DC supply that meets the draw will run it.

Is the Tiny Spring a real spring or a digital reverb?

It is neither a pure analog tank nor a pure digital emulation. Tone City describes it as a combination of analog and digital reverb, designed to give realistic spring reverb sounds with what the maker calls its signature warmth. There is no physical spring inside the enclosure.

How big is the Tone City Tiny Spring?

The enclosure measures 9.4 cm long by 4.5 cm wide by 4.8 cm high, and it weighs 0.26 kg. That is a mini-format pedal, roughly half the footprint of a standard single-effect box, so it fits easily into leftover board space.

Does the Tiny Spring work with overdrive and distortion pedals?

Yes. Tone City states the Tiny Spring will not influence the features of the original sound when used together with distortion and overdrive pedals, so you can place it after your gain stages without it altering their character.

How much does the Tone City Tiny Spring cost?

Delicious Audio listed the Tiny Spring at $60 USD in March 2018, describing it as a one-knob, no-frills spring reverb. The current v2025 version may be priced differently.
