The Voes MX-5 is a compact MIDI foot controller, one of the models in Voes' MX range of controllers1. It puts five fully programmable buttons under your feet and is aimed at players who run a modeler or profiler rig, such as a Kemper Profiler, Line 6 HX Stomp, Neural DSP Quad Cortex or IK Tonex, and want hands-free control over presets, scenes, looper, tempo and tuner functions2.
Buttons, pages and layers
The MX-5's five buttons are each fully programmable2. Every button carries two layers, which Voes calls Normal Press and Long Press, so a short step and a long hold can each send a different command2. On top of that, the controller holds two different setups, Page A and Page B, both fully editable, letting a player switch between two complete button layouts mid-set2.
Other hardware features include seven different LED colors for labeling button states at a glance2.
Modeler and profiler support
Voes builds device-specific commands into the MX-5 rather than leaving every message to be assembled by hand:
- Kemper Profiler: 9 dedicated Kemper Profiler command types2
- Neural DSP Quad Cortex: use of scenes, Looper, Tempo and Tuner2
- Line 6 HX Stomp: use of snapshots, Looper, Tempo and Tuner2
- Line 6 HX Stomp, Quad Cortex and IK Tonex: special Tempo, Tuner and Looper commands2
- Axe-Fx Standard & Ultra: sync of Preset Name, Looper, Tuner and Tap Tempo2
For HX Stomp owners, Voes also publishes a dedicated connection guide for the MX range1.
Expression input and power
The MX-5 includes an expression input that Voes describes as supporting auto-engage, a swap Expr CC function, and use with an external switch, so a connected expression pedal or switch can become part of the controller's layouts2.

Questions
How many footswitches does the Voes MX-5 have?
The MX-5 has five buttons, and Voes describes them as fully programmable. Each button works across two layers, Normal Press and Long Press, and the controller holds two pages, Page A and Page B, both fully editable, so a player can reach a large number of commands from a small footprint.
What power supply does the Voes MX-5 use?
Voes specifies a 9 to 12 volt power adapter with a 2.1mm connector. The maker's page also describes powering the MX-5 through a Midi-7 using the M-Box, so the two powering options differ between sections of the maker's documentation.
Does the Voes MX-5 work with the Kemper Profiler?
Yes. Voes lists nine dedicated Kemper Profiler command types on the MX-5, giving direct access to Profiler functions from the five buttons without building commands from scratch.
Can the Voes MX-5 control a Neural DSP Quad Cortex?
Yes. Voes lists dedicated support for the Quad Cortex, including use of scenes, Looper, Tempo and Tuner, alongside special Tempo, Tuner and Looper commands shared with the Line 6 HX Stomp and IK Tonex.
Does the Voes MX-5 have an expression pedal input?
Yes. The MX-5 has an expression input that Voes describes as supporting auto-engage, an Expr CC swap function and use with an external switch, so a connected expression pedal can be integrated into the controller's setups.
How much does the Voes MX-5 weigh?
Voes lists the MX-5 at 644 grams, or 1.42 pounds, with a length of 40 cm (15.75 inches).
