The Walrus Audio Slöer is a stereo ambient reverb pedal from Walrus Audio, built as an expanded version of the company's popular Slö lineup. It keeps the three reverb algorithms players know from the Slö, Dark, Rise and Dream, and adds two new algorithms, Light and Rain, along with stereo width control and extra modulation wave shapes for the reverb trail1. Walrus Audio describes the result as a way to "create immersive, lush, modulated, sleepy, and ambient soundscapes with more width and depth than ever before"2.
Guitar World covered the launch in July 2023, calling it "an updated take on the brand's popular Slö unit that finally offers stereo functionality," with two input and two output jacks3. Gearnews' Jef wrote that "Walrus Audio makes some great effects pedals and this new Slöer Stereo Ambient Reverb looks to be one of them, as it adds all the good stuff overall"4.
What the Slöer does
The Slöer is an ambient reverb, meaning it is aimed at players who want long, evolving, atmospheric reverb tails rather than a simple room sound. It is a pedal, sized for a pedalboard, and it processes your guitar signal through one of five reverb algorithms selected by a rotary dial5. Where the original Slö navigated its modes with a toggle switch, the Slöer uses a dedicated Mode control knob3.
The big additions over the earlier Slö pedals are stereo operation and width. The stereo feature offers three adjustable stereo width settings, which Gearnews noted "allow users to get some huge ambiences going"4. There is also a Stretch control among its knobs4.
Five reverb algorithms: Light, Rain, Dream, Dark and Rise
A five-way rotary dial selects the reverb algorithm. Three of the five carry over from the Slö, and two are new to the Slöer53.
| Mode | What it does |
|---|---|
| Light | Bright and smooth reverb with an octave-up shimmer1 |
| Rain | Reverb with delay taps, which Gearnews calls delay tap diffusion5 |
| Dream | Lush reverb with a latching pad function1 |
| Dark | Lower octave reverb4 |
| Rise | An auto-swell reverb for "beautiful cinematic swells"2 |
Guitar World reported at launch that "Light and Rain reverb algorithms have been drafted alongside the returning Dream, Dark and Rise sounds," with Light described as a "bright reverb with an octave up shimmer"3. Rise is a volume swell algorithm4, and Dream's latching pad function lets a reverb pad hang under your playing.
A secondary function of the dial changes between five different wave shapes for modulation on the reverb trail1. One of these is the Sine shape, which Walrus Audio describes as "smooth and even pitch up and down modulation"2.
The controls and footswitches
The pedal carries knobs for decay, filter, depth, mix, width, X, stretch and mode4. The X control does different things depending on the algorithm: Guitar World notes its functions range from "setting the depth of vibrato in Dream mode" to "altering the time it takes for the reverb to swell after a note is played while in Rise mode"3.
There are two footswitches, bypass and sustain, which also offer Trail and temporary trigger functions3. The bypass switch has a momentary trick worth knowing:
- With the pedal off, press and hold the bypass switch to temporarily activate the effect and add a moment of reverb.
- Release the switch and the effect turns off and fades out1.
You can save your settings in three onboard presets. To save a preset, simultaneously press and hold the bypass and sustain switches; to scroll through presets, simultaneously press and release bypass and sustain2.
The third pedal in the Slö line
The Slöer is the third addition to Walrus Audio's Slö selection, following the flagship Slö and the upgraded Slötvå3. Compared with the Slötvå, the Slöer adds the two new algorithms, Light and Rain, stereo width control, two additional modulation wave shapes and the preset system2. In a 2026 Guitar World review of another pedal, Matt Lincoln still called the Slöer "one of the market's go-to ambient soundscapers, with a similar array of tones and features on tap"6.
Walrus Audio lists the Slöer at $349.991; Guitar World's review gives the price as $349, £339 in the UK and €372 in the EU6. The pedal comes in a Lollipop Blue finish with light blue and off white ink featuring original artwork by Christi Du Toit, or a matte black finish with cream ink1. At launch, Guitar World described the colorways as semi-transparent Midnight Blue and Flat Black3.
The Black Friday edition of the Slöer is sold out, and Walrus Audio's blemished-unit listing is also sold out52.

Questions
Is the Walrus Audio Slöer stereo?
Yes. The Slöer is a stereo ambient reverb with two input and two output jacks, and it adds a stereo width control with three adjustable width settings, something the mono Slö and Slötvå did not offer. Guitar World described it as an updated take on the Slö that finally offers stereo functionality.
What is the difference between the Slöer and the Slötvå?
The Slöer is the third pedal in the Slö line, following the Slö and the Slötvå. It keeps the Dream, Dark and Rise algorithms and adds two new ones, Light and Rain, plus stereo width control, two additional modulation wave shapes and three onboard presets. The Slötvå was the upgraded second pedal in the line.
Is the Slöer true bypass?
No. Walrus Audio lists the Slöer as buffered bypass. When the pedal is off, pressing and holding the bypass footswitch temporarily activates the effect, and releasing it turns the effect off and fades it out.
What colors does the Slöer come in?
Walrus Audio lists the Slöer in a Lollipop Blue finish with light blue and off white ink featuring original artwork by Christi Du Toit, or a matte black finish with cream ink. At launch, Guitar World reported semi-transparent Midnight Blue and Flat Black colorways.
