The Wampler Pantheon Deluxe is a dual overdrive pedal from Wampler, designed by Brian Wampler. It packs two completely independent Pantheon circuits into one enclosure: Channel 1 delivers a classic Blues Breaker tone, while Channel 2 is a recreation of the original Wampler Pantheon, a similar circuit with a more modern boutique feel123. Wampler says the two channels are stackable and independently MIDI-switchable, and that the pedal offers 200 combinations of gain settings4.
Where a single Blues Breaker-style pedal gives you one flavor of transparent drive, the Pantheon Deluxe gives you two you can run alone, stacked, or in either order. Wampler describes the range as "two channels of organic creamy gain, gritty overdrive, or heavy distortion"4.
Two Blues Breaker-style channels in one pedal
The Pantheon line traces back to the Marshall Blues Breaker, a vintage circuit prized for its transparency. Delicious Audio describes the original Pantheon as "an overdrive voiced after the ultra-transparent vintage Marshall Blues Breaker"5, and Pedal of the Day calls it "a unique interpretation of the classic 'Blues Breaker' style stomp box"1. Guitar Player's staff wrote that the Pantheon's take on the Blues Breaker "capted all the tonal nuance of the original" while adding its own features2.
The Deluxe splits that lineage in two:
| Channel | Voicing |
|---|---|
| Channel 1 | Classic Blues Breaker tone4 |
| Channel 2 | Recreation of the original Pantheon, a similar circuit with a modern boutique feel513 |
MusicRadar's Jonathan Horsley framed the two sides the same way at launch: Channel One voiced as a classic Blues Breaker overdrive circuit, Channel Two "a variation on the theme" with a whiff of contemporary boutique drive6. In his demo video, Pete Thorn heard the difference in the midrange: the left side has slightly fuller, more amp-like mids, while the right side has a more cutting, flatter-mids character with less midrange and a more aggressive top end7.
Because the channels stack, the pedal covers a wide range on its own. Pedal of the Day found its tonal range running "from transparent boost to bluesy leads to classic rock and distortion and up to modern metal"1.
The controls and side-mounted switches
Each channel has its own Gain, Level, Treble, and Bass controls4. On top of those sit shared and side-mounted controls:
| Control | What it does |
|---|---|
| Gain, Level, Treble, Bass (per channel) | Independent level, gain, and EQ for each side4 |
| Presence (global) | A single control that alters both channels at once, adding top-end chime3 |
| Voicing switch (per channel, side-mounted) | Sets the clipping mode between hard and soft4 |
| Gain Level switch (per channel, side-mounted) | Three gain levels per channel5 |
| Order switch (top) | Swaps which channel comes first, without changing cabling3 |
| Two footswitches | One turns on each side7 |
The Bass control is a Baxandall-style active control, neutral at noon with what Premier Guitar calls "an extremely powerful sweep" through its range3. The global Presence control, which Pedal of the Day says "adds sparkle and top end to both channels," works like a presence knob on an amp1.
The Order switch is the stacking key. You can run either channel into the other, and flip the order from the top of the pedal rather than re-patching cables3. Pete Thorn demonstrated the switch in his demo, noting you can reverse the right and left sides at will7.
Power and connections: dual inputs, outputs and MIDI
The connection layout is what sets the Pantheon Deluxe apart from most dual overdrives. With dual analog inputs and outputs, you can split both channels into separate loops of a loop switcher, insert other pedals between each side, or run in stereo4. MusicRadar noted the same options at launch: split the channels in a loop switcher, insert external effects, or run a stereo signal to two different amps6.
MIDI comes in on 3.5mm TRS jacks, In and Out, and switches the analog channels of each circuit on and off from a MIDI switcher4. It was the first time Wampler had added MIDI channel switching to one of its gain pedals5. The pedal can also be configured to store and recall each channel's on/off state via MIDI program changes, numbered 0 to 1278.
The Pantheon Deluxe runs on a 9 to 18V DC supply only, and Wampler warns not to exceed 18V DC. It draws 55mA4, noticeably more than the original Pantheon's 17.3mA at 9V9, so plan for it on a powered pedalboard. A battery is included4.
Top-mounted jacks keep the footprint pedalboard-friendly4, and the enclosure is purple1.
How it grew out of the Wampler Pantheon
The original Wampler Pantheon is a single-channel Blues Breaker-style overdrive that remains in Wampler's lineup9. The Pantheon Deluxe, launched in December 2021, is an expanded version of it10: two independent Pantheon circuits with slightly different voicings, plus stereo I/O, MIDI, and the Order switch510.
The two pedals differ in a few practical ways beyond the channel count:
| Pantheon | Pantheon Deluxe | |
|---|---|---|
| Channels | One | Two, independently switchable4 |
| Bypass | Relay true bypass9 | Buffered bypass4 |
| Current draw | 17.3mA at 9V, 18.8mA at 18V9 | 55mA4 |
| I/O | Single input and output | Dual inputs and outputs, MIDI In and Out4 |
On price at launch, the press disagreed: Guitar.com listed the Pantheon Deluxe at $269.9710, while Gearnews gave $249.0011. Wampler's own page lists it at $269.97 as of September 20264.
What reviewers said
Early coverage was positive. Gearnews wrote that the pedal "may well become the new 'go to' overdrive pedal for many players" who don't want to chase used Analogman King of Tone prices11. Pedal of the Day was more direct:
"the Pantheon Dual Overdrive Deluxe is a drive pedal like none we've seen before, and we're all about it"1
Pedal of the Day, July 20221
Pete Thorn's demo video walks through both channels, the Order switch, and the loop-switcher setup, with each side's character shown separately before stacking7.

Questions
Can the two channels of the Pantheon Deluxe be stacked?
Yes. Wampler describes it as a dual overdrive with two stackable, independent, MIDI-switchable channels. You can combine them, stack them, and swap which channel comes first using the Order switch, without changing any cabling.
Can the Pantheon Deluxe run in stereo to two amps?
Yes. It has dual analog inputs and outputs, two sets of jacks in total, so you can run a stereo signal to two different amps. You can also insert other pedals between the two channels.
Is the Wampler Pantheon Deluxe true bypass?
No. Wampler lists the Pantheon Deluxe as buffered bypass. The original single-channel Wampler Pantheon, by contrast, uses relay true bypass.
How much current does the Pantheon Deluxe draw?
Wampler lists the power draw as 55mA. It runs on a 9 to 18V DC supply only, and you should not exceed 18V DC. A battery is included.
Can each channel go in a separate loop of a loop switcher?
Yes. Each side has its own set of inputs and outputs, so both sides can sit in separate loops of a loop switcher. In Pete Thorn's demo video for the pedal, he highlights this as one of its most useful features.
What is the difference between the Wampler Pantheon and the Dual Pantheon Deluxe?
The original Pantheon is a single-channel Blues Breaker-style overdrive with relay true bypass and a draw of 17.3mA at 9V. The Deluxe doubles the circuit: two independent Pantheon channels with different voicings, dual inputs and outputs, MIDI switching, and a 55mA draw.
