The Wampler ReWired is a two-channel overdrive and distortion pedal, and a signature pedal for Nashville session guitarist Brent Mason, who uses it live and in the studio1. Made by Wampler, it puts two independent dirt circuits in one box: an overdrive channel for low-to-medium gain rhythm tones, and a distortion channel for saturated, harmonic-rich lead tones2. The two channels can be used on their own or stacked, with a switch that flips which one comes first in the chain.
Wampler's Brian Wampler set out to craft the pedal as "the cornerstone of Brent's sound"1. It carries an exclusive Prime Silver finish, a nod to Brent's infamous '67 Telecaster, with custom graphics1.
A dual drive with stackable channels
The ReWired's dual-channel design covers a wide range of dirty tones, from amp-like overdrive on the right channel to saturated plexi-style distortion2. Delicious Audio describes it as a refined version of the Brent Mason signature dual channel, the Hot Wired V22.
What sets it apart from most two-in-one drives is the routing. A toggle switch in the middle of the pedal chooses the stacking order of the two channels2, and Wampler says the order switch lets you change the stacking direction on the fly, without the hassle of changing cables1. Gearnews notes the two inputs and outputs on the head side allow two completely separate effect paths to run through the pedal3.
That opens up three ways to use it:
- Stacked: both channels on at once, in whichever order the toggle selects12
- Split: each channel wired into a different point in your pedalboard routing order, using the separate ins and outs2
- One at a time: either channel engaged alone via its own footswitch3
Wampler also points out you can connect another pedal in between the two channels, suggesting a compressor or an EQ to sculpt the tone between the overdrive and distortion stages1.
The controls
Each channel has its own control set, and Wampler gives both channels the same layout with one addition on the overdrive side1.
| Control | What it does | Channels |
|---|---|---|
| Gain | Input level | Both3 |
| Level | Output level | Both3 |
| Tone | High-pass/low-pass filter | Both3 |
| Fat | Added thickness | Both12 |
| Blend | Mixes in dry signal for added clarity | Overdrive only12 |
The Blend knob on the overdrive channel mixes dry signal back in, which keeps clarity under gain, a feature the overdrive channel inherited from the Hot Wired v2's redesign124. The Fat knobs add thickness to each side independently2.
From Hot Wired to ReWired
The ReWired is the third generation of Wampler's Brent Mason signature dual drive. The original Hot Wired and Hot Wired V2 already combined an overdrive and a distortion effect in one pedal3. Premier Guitar's review of the Hot Wired v.2 found it "got all the versatility that made the original such a hit, but with even greater touch sensitivity, smoother and more ample gain, and a more streamlined package"5.

For the v2, Wampler completely redesigned channel 1 to incorporate a blend control, after Mason found he needed a little more control4. The ReWired builds on that base with the Channel Order switch and the separate input and output pairs13. Gearnews summed up the lineage's range as sitting "between the twangy rhythm guitar and piercing lead sounds," a wide range of sounds within Mason's cosmos3.
The ReWired launched in November 2024 at $261.00 at a US retailer; Gearnews also listed it at 329 euros at Thomann at the same time3. Prices move after launch, so treat these as launch-era figures.

Questions
Can the Wampler ReWired run its two channels in either order?
Yes. A Channel Order switch in the middle of the pedal lets you change the stacking direction on the fly, without swapping cables. You can put the overdrive into the distortion, or the distortion into the overdrive, whichever suits the part.
Does the ReWired have separate inputs and outputs for each channel?
Yes. The pedal has two pairs of input and output jacks. You can run it with a single mono input and output, or wire each channel independently so the two sides sit in different places in your pedalboard routing order.
Is the Wampler ReWired a Brent Mason signature pedal?
Yes. Wampler describes it as the Brent Mason ReWired, a signature pedal Brian Wampler built to be the cornerstone of Brent Mason's sound. Mason, a Nashville session guitarist, uses it live and in the studio.
Can I use only the overdrive or only the distortion on the ReWired?
Yes. The overdrive and distortion circuits are independent, each with its own footswitch, so you can run one alone, the other alone, or both stacked together for higher-gain sounds.
