Wampler Tom Quayle Signature Dual Fusion

Distortion

The Wampler Tom Quayle Signature Dual Fusion is a two-channel distortion pedal built as a signature unit for modern fusion player Tom Quayle1. It grew out of Quayle's own rig: when Wampler first met him in early 2012, he was already using the company's Euphoria and Paisley Drive pedals stacked together2.

Where it came from

MusicRadar announced the pedal in January 2013 as "coming soon" from Wampler Pedals1, and Premier Guitar carried the same unveiling3.

The circuit basis follows directly from Quayle's stacked setup. As MusicRadar described the approach: take the Euphoria and Paisley Drive circuits, "highlight the most usable tones, modify them extensively to ensure that they stack perfectly"1.

What it does

The Dual Fusion gives players two distinct tones and lets them switch between the two1. It also features dual inputs1, an unusual arrangement that pairs with the two-channel design.

Its most distinctive feature is the switchable stacking order: the pedal can run C1 into C2, or C2 into C11. For a player, that means the order in which the two gain stages feed each other is a choice you can make on the pedal, not a fixed decision baked into the circuit.

Its place in Wampler's range

The Dual Fusion's signal routing later influenced other Wampler designs. Wampler's own page for the Brad Paisley Paisley Deluxe describes that pedal as "taking a cue from Wampler's popular Tom Quayle signature Dual Fusion's groundbreaking signal routing"4. Wampler has since built other dual-channel and signature drives, including the Wampler Brent Mason ReWired and the Wampler Pantheon Dual Overdrive Deluxe, alongside its single-channel drives in the distortion and overdrive ranges.

Questions

Can the Dual Fusion change which channel comes first?

Yes. Wampler made the stacking order switchable, so the pedal can run C1 into C2 or C2 into C1. That means you can choose which of the two circuits feeds the other, which changes how the two tones stack together.

Which Wampler pedals is the Dual Fusion based on?

It is based on the Euphoria and Paisley Drive circuits. MusicRadar reported that Wampler took those two circuits, highlighted the most usable tones, and modified them extensively so they stack perfectly. Quayle had already been using the two pedals stacked together before the signature pedal existed.

Does the Dual Fusion have two inputs?

Yes. MusicRadar's announcement describes the pedal as featuring dual inputs, which pairs with its two-channel design: players can dial in two distinct tones and switch between them.

Who designed the Wampler Tom Quayle Signature Dual Fusion?

It is a signature pedal designed with modern fusion player Tom Quayle. MusicRadar reported that the concept was born at a NAMM show with Quayle's input and took just over 12 months to be realized.

Is the Wampler Dual Fusion available yet?

At its announcement in January 2013, the pedal was listed as coming soon from Wampler Pedals. The page does not carry a current availability status, so check Wampler's own product page for where it stands today.
